Brainstorming Community Wellness

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it might really take to fix some of the social issues that we face in this country, i.e., homelessness, hunger, and poverty being core issues.    I was having a discussion with Mike Haluska and he mentioned that communities should take care of these issues.  It's not the first time I have heard this, but it's always resonated with me.  Why aren’t communities doing a good job with this?  We do have community programs but perhaps the problem isn’t really in those programs but more with the community itself.    One of the things I have realized through the many debates I have had with people who subscribe to the same value that Mike does is that people are not doing enough.  Socialist, Liberals, Democrats, they want the government to take of these t…

Problems With the Polls

Like lots of other people, I finally took notice of the various Polls during the past election and began to question their validity and legitimacy.  The Democratic Party was more shocked and stunned by the staggering discrepancy between "forecast and reality" than any other group.  The Tru…

The Limiting World ofStereotypes

has a up on the unpleasant habit many of us fall in to of denigrating our fellow Americans.  There’s a lot of good stuff there, but I particularly liked this:   “Why do we want to say such negative things about our own countrymen (Admittedly, I have done it. So I think I k…

Differences Between Crony Capitalism and Capitalis…

I believe Crony capitalism is the most misunderstood term of all time.  The reason it’s misunderstood is because people don’t understand the difference between capitalism and crony capitalism.  Defined, capitalism is an economic and political system in which a country's trade a…

A Serious (and Informed) Discussion of Civil War

This is not the time to mess with Social Security…

Blind supporters of Social Security are fond of saying that the program is running a surplus; that simply is not true. Before 2010 the incoming payroll taxes exceeded what was needed to pay benefits; that was a surplus because the extra money could be and was invested to grow with interest.  &#…

Media? We Don't Need No Lying Media! (Or Do We?)
