The Beat Goes on XXIII

I received a few complaints recently about my selection criteria for which articles to promote.  So I thought it would be helpful if I restated the criteria in the order it matters to me:   1) Recent articles.  Anything more than 48 hours old, will not be promoted.   2) Authors that comment on the work of others.   3) Authors that have a track record of engaging his or her commenters.   4) Nicely formatted, grammatically sound articles.   5)  Non-racist, comment inducing articles.    By way of example, the two articles I most recently promoted are below:    by    by

Florida Shooting Conspiracy

The shooting took place on Feb 14 2018, after being rehearsed on Feb 13 2018. This is a constant thread that runs through these "shootings and terrorist attacks". Alternative non mainstream sources showed that Sandy Hook was also rehearsed the previous day. 9-11, Spain Madrid  and London 7/7 bo…

Trump and trade

It amazes me Trump is so anti-free trade and pro-tariff.  Did he fail the part on comparative advantage?  I can understand recycled rhetoric on bringing manufacturing jobs home for getting votes marketed to true working class, but a stale argument when their real incomes decline due t…

The Debt Bubble

Encouraged and asked by Katharine I have put together a summation of the current situation with debt.  In short, the world is floating in debt, possibly soon drowning in debt, developed and developing countries alike.  Central Banks around the world have been giving out near free money ove…

Olympic sized thoughts

(These aren't really Olympic sized thoughts--just small thoughts on the Olympics.)     It was nice that benevolent dictator Kim Jong-un let his cheerleaders out of the country to attend the Olympics, along with his sister. Isn't he a good guy? Hopefully they had a chance to grab a nice m…

Robert Owen - A Pioneer of Socialism

In the early 19th Century conditions in the new textile factories were horrendous. People worked 14-15 hour shifts six days a week. Children as young as five were employed to crawl under the machines to retie broken yarn without having to stop the process. This often resulted in horrendous injuries.…

Why the Minimum Wage should be abolished

My advice to anyone that enters a discussion on minimum wage is to avoid the back and forth that occurs regarding the calculation of jobs lost versus the benefit of higher wages.  It’s a losing argument because anyone that employees someone at the minimum wage is likely profiting from tha…

Regarding really solving school violence:

I have a simple, easy-to-do proposal that will immediately reduce school violence: stop compulsory school attendance.   There is clearly a segment of the population that doesn't want to go to school. This kid Cruz was reported to beat his head against the wall when his adoptive parents tried to…

Making up words, a computer can't obsessivize

I love to make up words. I've loved to do this since I was a kid and had hearing problems. I don't think a computer could make up words that make sense. It could put roots together, like a gardener splicing things together, but I don't believe it could do what I do.    Rasputum was one. It…
