My mother's obituary ... R.I.P.

------------------------------------------------------------------ Sometimes it seems like nothing ever went quite right for my mother. It took her three marriages to find one that fit. She loved to work, but seldom stayed long where she was. Then, when she passed on, the timing went all wonky and as of when I'm writing this--four days later--we still don't know exactly when the service will be. It's all bad timing and red tape. You see, instead of a viewing and funeral, followed by cremation (which I didn't know she wanted until after she died), the family decided on the cremation first followed by a service. The reasons boil down to bills and money, and that's something that never quite went right for my family, either. Maybe it's crass and not something people want to think about, but …

Sex and Original Sin

The confirmation hearings over Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, along with the accusations of sexual impropriety in his younger days, represent the latest act in a drama that has been going on since recorded history began.  It has to do with the imbalance between the sexes in Western and …

Coming Down From Narcotics

Several years ago while at work, I felt a pain where my right arm joined the shoulder, and a tingling sensation at my fingertips. It got worse by the hour. The next day, while on jury duty, the pain was traveling down my arm and becoming unbearable, and the tingling was traveling up my arm. I felt I…

Emotional Honesty

My father insisted that men were rational, women emotional, and therefore, women were irrational and inferior to men.  He liked to prove his point by provoking his wife and daughters into a rage, at which time he would sit back and smirk. I learned from his example that emotional expression sho…

A party devoid of honor and dignity

In a nation with only two parties, it is obscene that one party is now sewer scum willing take down half of the population with 'fuzzy' accusations. Men decreasingly reject marriage. They no longer can treat wonen with respect or kindness due to fear of accusations.   We have become the worst s…

Of Toys and Termination

The Transitional Object Paradigm It’s almost as if it is “bring your toy day” at school. All of the students have their toys, held close to them, asking if they can play with them in every class. They have many reasons for keeping the toys close, such as their importance in their l…

Parable of Jesus - A New Patch on an Old Coat

Indulgence Please: If I can beg the indulgence of this forum, I'm going to (from time to time) write on the subject of the teachings of Jesus.   Many may think this is proselytizing.  If you think any mention of Jesus Christ is proselytizing and that offends you, please stop right here.…

Most gun toting criminals are Democrats!

Let's have a little fun with the numbers, did you know that most gun toting criminals are Democrats?  Yup it's a fact, 67.97% gun murders were committed by Democrats.  That leads to some obvious conclusions:   Republicans aren’t violent, compared to DemocratsIf Democr…

Lets face it Kavanough's accuser, Dr. Ford is hardly an innocent victim who by no fault of her own was horribly abused.  By her own admission she behaved stupidly and should have expected someone to grope her, given where she went and what she did.   She started off by doing something her …

The Day PC Died

For decades, politically correct (PC) has prevented society from talking about our problems.     To solve many of our problems, possible solutions need to be aired without fear of humiliation.  This is called "brainstorming" in business.  If a person believes they will be ca…

I spent 2004 with the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa ("CJTF-HoA") as part of the Global War on Terrorism ("GWOT").   Although CJTF-HoA did not operate there, what was happening (and what had happened) in the failed state of Somalia was often a focus.  In the late 1990s, the East …

It has been a fine day

Today was what I will consider to be the first true day of Autumn. The cool, glowering clouds descended on Thursday; an outlier of Hurricane Michael. That day was like a violent coup upon the atmosphere. The day prior the mercury had climbed to near 90F, the air fuggy and thick , more like August. C…

There is no such thing as human rights. We do not have the right to be born, to live or to die. We do not have the right to not be abused, tortured, starved or beaten. We have no rights.   There is no such thing as a human right.   We are animals. Nature does not confer rights. It is simpl…
