Hello to all.. I have read a lot of  comments regarding Writer Beat closing down...It appears a lot of the comments are you really don't know who a person really is ..as on sites like this its assumed all lie. Well this is me...who I really am...I will be 51 this year. I am an administrative assistant for a construction company. I live in mid state NY.I love animals walking long talks snuggling a good wine a better doobie Lol..I hate politics always have..I believe less government is better. I don't like them involved in my day to day life. I have discovered most all lie to get where they are... Not a group I'd like to be associated with. I'm a witch..Seventh Generation..I truly believe we owe the earth. Not the other way..I would prefer to be a homebody than go to work..I voted mostly independent my whole life..that's what I'm registered as.I never knew about people like Billy until I hit this site. I'm naive in a lot of ways..admittedly so..I have learned a lot from some of you here..I have hopes dreams.. As most do..I'm a great Aunt..(proud of her). I worry about things I have no control over. I would prefer a good book or song to any TV show.  I'm versatile when it comes to music. My dad loved Mozart Chopan etc. Mom is all country or bluegrass..I love any thing but rap..I don't understand it..Lol.. I'm in debt up to my ass...haven't given up yet..Always a way...that's our motto. Oh us...I've been with the same gent  since 1993..I'm divorced..was young dumb..you know that story.we can change the world.. Lol... My mom introduced me to my ex ..He is a great guy..we just weren't meant to be..   My fav. Writers here..Stone WSU Bill H. Ric Wells Mircea (sorry if  spelled wrong) Expat. Janie Shane  Tom. There are more but I'll leave them for my next one..;) Why..all of these writers are people I learn from..all different opinions all different styles from one side of the earth to the other we are all extremely different but yet so much the same..  I noticed something in the last day or so...since Autum made her announcement most have gotten along..tried to work together for a damn good reason..Autumn Côte.... See what one good person can do..Now to George...This is a man whose articles I can relate to the most..his daily struggles I've been through and am going through again...I have a great deal of respect for you. Anything else you want to know..Ask I'll be Honest..this is me..Who are you?   )0(

Donna it is an honor and a privilege to have shared thoughts and ideas with you.  You are an amazing human being that deserves much better.  I can't put into words the sadness that effects me when I see people like you marginalized.  People like you that should be a in commanding position somewhere that fully uses all of your god given and hard learned skills and abilities.
You can find me (and Jeanne) on Niume. Please check it out.
Stay strong and you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Most of the things I'm for and against are in my profile bio (yes, I actually filled it out). Basically I'm a 28yr old Kemetian Priestess of the Netjert Sekhmet. Sekhmetnakt is my religious name. I am a hereditary Kemetian, my lineage on my father's side goes back to pre-Christian times in ancient Egypt. My father came to America and became a citizen in the mid 1980's.
My mother's side of the the family came from Scotland to America on the Titanic. Part way at least.
I myself am a virtual graphic artist for Nintendo. I also homeschool my 6yr old daughter Nyssa. I enjoy chess, various card games and pool, and bow hunting. I believe we are one with the earth and the universe.
I am a Green Party Progressive, traditional liberal, not in the least neoliberal or the like. I pursue economics and  politics only because I believe to be politically ignorant is to be blind in a den of lions. And I like lions, but I know show them the respect they deserve.
Music, anything from dance pop, to classic rock (and yes I like Lady Gaga) but also no rap. I also love comics, and comic book movies. That's about it!

I might take you up on that Tom, although I'm not sure how much of a challenge I am yet. Although I've played since I was a kid, I only recently began practicing with a older neighbor who is himself a master. I've got a ways to go before I'll be anywhere near that! I hope to be able to take on a Russian friend eventually. Eventually.

Donna, what you've seen on Writer Beat is a part of what I am. It's not all of me, but what there is, is real. I could've played it the same as others, hiding behind a fake persona, used a pseudonym and in short done everything possible to hide, but I prefer to tell the truth. Heck, if hiding was all I wanted to do, I wouldn't have come to WB in the first place. However the future of WB turns out, I am glad to have made your acquaintance- and no, you didn't spell my name wrong... ;-)

Very cool, and you say you never write, ;).  I knew a lot of that though from talking to you in your time here. I know you to be a chill person.
I am the same kinda but different. I was brought up  well off and sheltered.  Unfortunately, the type of life comes with a price at least in my life I wasnt willing to pay.  For some reason even at a very young age, I was very strong willed and fought back against many things.  Some maybe I should not have and some I absolutely had to, in any event I was on my own at 16.  Somehow during that time I learned that my word meant everything and it saved me more than once both in jobs and life. Its one thing that has never been questioned anywhere I have worked, not ever.
Even though I have done some crazy things with interesting people who were just as boring and nerdy as me, my life was never dull or exceptional.  But I lived my life to my satisfaction. I saw and did things that few will. I also walked my own path which made things rough.
But I am glad I did that and grateful for the lessons I learned along the way.
I worked in and around the law for many years, earning my first degree in 1992 and my second in 2013 after years of changing my major. I have been working on my masters in Law but am in no hurry now, I did that for my Mom, who passed away in 2009.  In between all of that I have done so many things because its part of life to evolve and also if you want to simplify it, I am a Gemini.
I had a friend a long time ago who was involved in some kind of bad thing (not sure what) but she wasn't a witch, and my daughter was wiccan for a very long time.  I thought it fascinating and agree with the philosphy.
However, Music has been a huge part of my life, all kinds.  I have traveled 1200 miles to see a show in this really cool old fashioned theatre and it was one of the best times of my life. Seriously.
I like short spontaneous trips on a dime and long trips about once a year. But its also a thing because I like to photograph what I see. I make sure to meet people and often photograph them. I have met the coolest people that way...I also fuse and blow glass but I am sure you knew that and  all of you know I protest and volunteer for things I feel are valid.  Its just what I do with my time now.
Its been great writing with you Donna...thanks for asking, Just Jeanne

@ Janie- Always so sweet..I can't imagine you have a mean bone in your body..as my grams would say..
@ Billy- I have looked at some of your stuff..absolutely truth-i was amazed at some of what i found..Not in a bad way, just as i said, i am a little naive at times. LOL
@Opes-Can you explain what you mean..
Thank you all for your comments..
Tom- I have rescued Cats and kittens for over 20 years..It is a passion that all have a home..even if it means mine. ;)

LOL..only wild a little anymore.  Like you, but for different reasons, I find an inherent beauty to the earth and its people.  Also like you, animals, I have rescued and re-homed many animals.  Its just what you do for those who cant do for themselves.
You are amazing..I know this. Please rethink your decision, it will be my loss if and when this site closes. There are other sites, but they are more for writing, the site everyone is talking about you can message writers personally and comment articles.  Writing.com is another and I like WritersCafe.org, but its a little stuffy at times.
There are other sites that pay for your writing but they are not blogs.

i love all animals. It just so happened that i was given this wonderful chance to rescue, as a lady had so many when she went in a nursing home, someone had to help the kittens and cats..The County does not help with any of this, so i made it my mission with the help of a rescue, to get them homes, and all fixed..Lets say family and friends are now all proud owners of cats..Funny thing i am allergic..LOL But one little pill a day, and love for them all..Vet Tech is a good job..Fun if you are an animal ,lover like me..Never been afraid of any breed, Leary of those little nippy dogs..LOL
My favorite breed is the Boxer..Class act, with a personality to match..
Dogs, are wonderful..i haven't gone for another yet, my dad was a huge bull dog lover, so i am thinking of rescuing an older one , in Dads memory..
I will be here, as i will go down with Autumns sinking ship, or we will survive whatever this was..
WSU- i will  find you...

Pretty brave laying yourself out there like that.  Thank you.
Not sure what I could share that isn't pretty evident in my blog posts and comments.
Irish descended male with Nordic stock mixed in.  Nuts about animals but also recognize the right of hunters. as long as they are out for food and not stroking their ego with trophies.  Libertarian leaning, believe government (and other people) should not impede on people's lives more than absolutely necessary.  Also consider myself a Christian but probably not in the way most do.  I believe every human being has value and deserve help if needed to reach full potential, but that should be a hand up not a hand out.  Come from a long line of veterans, including myself, going back at least to the War of 1812 that we can document, and my wife had ancestors in the military in this country going back before the 1700s.  I appreciate the sacrifice and risk that police put up with, yet will never condone an officer acting above the law.  I welcome any to this country as long as they follow a legal process and do not try to subvert the Constitution and subsequent amendments.  I feel all history should be taught in schools, good and bad, so we can remember what was right and what was wrong so we can continue to improve.  I don't think it is unpatriotic to remember some of the dark moments in out history, but we need to teach the bright moments too.  We all need to do our part daily, and no one is owed anything, regardless of what happened to their parents or grandparents.  Our Constitution specifically forbids debts or crimes of our parents or grandparents being held against us.
I know I don't know everything, and abhor those who think they do.  My beliefs are based on research and experience, but I am open to changing beliefs when I see evidence or reason to do so.  I love to learn and love to grow.
I have three awesome sons and an amazing wife, and every day I wake up knowing I am blessed beyond measure.
I am grateful for this site, even if at times there have been some emotional exchanges.  Unlike most, I know there is no provision in the Constitution that protects me from being offended.  At the same time, civil discourse, even in disagreement, is still better than base vulgar name calling.  But I think the community is better for policing that than excessive rules in most cases.
I think I have rambled enough for the moment.  Bless you all, be well, and I hope to continue seeing thoughtful discourse from each one of you.

I can't speak for Witches but cats are certainly sacred to us Kemetians. They are considered to be emissaries of the Netjeru, their eyes and ears as it were. The only animals who walk both in this world and the ethereal and who can clearly see spirits good and evil. Cats are especially important to Baset and Sekhmet, lions in particular are my favorite cat. And no I don't own or otherwise have one. No one really owns them, and I believe those kinds of cats in particular belong in the wild not captivity or as pets.

I have visited most of the continental United States on vacations but always seem to return here.

Had a Scottish Terrier an Aberdeen. She died last year aged 16. Broke my heart. Used to read a lot of Dennis Wheatley and had the Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Demonology which I was fascinated with. Had an end of term report from my housemaster which read "Shane is a very nice young man but his fascination with the black arts is somewhat disturbing."
Dad left my mum when I was 8, at aged 9 he came to see me, he pushed her down the stairs and she died of gangrene of the bowels. He got out of the country. Relatives stripped the house bare and I don't even have a photograph of her just hazy memories. Sent to boarding school, joined the Army, saw and did bad things. Got married in 1984, still married today. Have daughter of 26 who is apple of my eye. She completes her MA in Art Therapy in the next couple of months. Centre right political leanings. Like most music apart from country. Play golf when I can. Try to keep a level head. Always try to be a gentleman, good manners cost nothing.

Hello Dominic,
Thank you for sharing who you are and your beliefs. Most interesting you are in China, what made you go there? Totally different than anything you knew growing up. Seems like an interesting choice.
My dad was a Catholic, mom is a Methodist. I practice a mix of Pagan and Wicca. I was born into this as i am a 7th generation witch. My Great Grandmother taught me what i know, and the rest i have learned from myself, and books. I am a solo practitioner.
I do not believe in anything this government says, i was taught that you see and feel what is true, they all lie, to benefit themselves. You can see that in the daily suffering of the every day person.
I will follow your link, and send an email. May you always have peace and light in your life. )0(

Dominic Autumn has decided to keep the site going at least for now.  As far as what you speak of.  There has always been good and evil in this country and many shades between.  I too lived in NYC at the time of 9/11 and do not believe the government version of what happened.  We might very well never know the real truth.  But what struck me was the kindness of strangers that day and the days following the event.  We as people can fight for and at times get the greater good.  It's becoming harder to do because evil from Wall Street to multinational corporations to government has gotten bigger and captured more absolute power.
The only alternative is to give up and let evil forces win.  If they do the human race is soon doomed (like in a few decades not centuries) because these animals only know exploitation, raping, plundering and pillaging for a few more dollars.

Jeanne its coming from lack of economic opportunity.  Its coming from people that did everything right and it turned out so wrong.  Its coming from the death of the American Dream and end of the social contract.  We forget people will react in different ways and blame various characters.  History has shown the oppressed often destroys itself.  Like my recent article said people are anxious, nervous, bewildered, confused and above all mad.  They were sold the American Dream as a kid but as an adult they were served a real s&&$t burger by the same ruling class that sold them on the American Dream.  If, and that's a big IF, people ever unite the elite would be handled very quickly by sheer numbers.  But for now that is nothing more than a pipe dream.
