Now that Autumn has decided to continue being involved with the site, I pledge to make her job easier by abiding by the site rules!

We reserve the right to remove any article or comment and ban any user that does any of the following:

  • Slander, personal attacks or abusive, hateful, offensive language or material.
  • Spam or links to spam (repeated attempts to redirect readers to another website are considered spam).
  • Comments off-topic to the article.
  • All capital letters.
  • Intentionally inflammatory rhetoric.
  • Links to inappropriate or unrelated content.
  • Identical, repetitive comments posted on multiple articles.
  • Excessively long URLs
  • Blatantly promotional content.
  • Reproduced copyrighted articles from other sources: provide a link only.

I do this voluntarily, in the hope that others will join me. Instead of trading insults, I promise to write thoughtful articles, be tolerant of my lessors and praise my bettors.

I will answer rancor with factual rebuttal, and respond to un-American comments with the TRUTH.

I confess that in the past, I have rolled in the mud with Pigs and insulted lesser intellects. Mia Culpa!

If on a bad day I stray from this commitment, please remind me!

I hope that all of you join me in a more Civil Discourse and just ignore those who do not.

I just deleted my Ryan for King article as a sign that I mean what I have pledged.

No problem Expat..I  concur completely.. "this is my only request in a discussion "debate with factual rebuttal, and respond to un-American comments with the TRUTH."  Opinions are fine, but lets talk and sort this out, we have to start somewhere.
I have no problem giving respect if another person also extends the same courtesy.
Like Writer Beat, this is an important step forward. We all need to communicate cohesively.

Sometimes I need to be reminded that my Street Fighter days are over. Ric Wells is a man of deep understanding and has straightened me out in the past.

Several weeks ago, I vowed not to engage in civil discourse any longer, as this site had fallen to a level of rancor as never before. I pledged to offer blunt criticism and match insult for insult, and ridicule stupidity. What I had once called my window on America, had become a window on a mental asylum.
But the people who know me were dismayed, and new arrivals wanted intelligent discourse.
I responded to a post by one newby named Ric Wells, that called for rational discourse :
I no longer have a need to acquiesce to the foibles of the world you live in.
America has abandoned the principles it was founded on, and I have abandoned America.
I refuse to be polite to those who are destroying civilization with their delusions of grandeur.
The late, great , united states deserves honesty.
He responded to me:

Ric Wells Added Aug 4, 2016 - 9:53am
Expat In certain respects America never tried to live up to the principles it was founded upon. It is a matter of perspective and actions. But to say you have abandoned America I hardly think so. Physically? Yes. By choosing to live I another country you do not reside in this country. But your statement alone of refusal to be polite etc. screams that you a sickened by what you see and hear still happening here. To some we are a great nation to others we have been on a downslide ever since July 3 or 4 or 5 1776. You rail because you are upset, you are angry, you are sickened by the factions that are destroying this nation and have the potential of destroying this world. Some will accuse you of doing this from what they will inaccurately call a safe distance. You do this to try to right the wrongs, correct the course, and all those other cliche's we hate to see. Just my opinion. Have a great day.

I have given a good deal of thought to what he said, and He's right. I am angry at the current events, and I can't abandon my heritage.
So I can only be me. If you don't like it tough shit! I grew up in the streets, and can stand toe to toe with the most cantankerous person on W B. I have also engaged with leaders around the world. And you know what; they have more in common, than exception. Oh, I don't mean that ability is equal. Far from it! No matter how good we are, there is always someone better.
What I mean is that we all have talents that will benefit society, if only we are given a chance to demonstrate them. Society is at it's best, when we all are doing our best! That should be obvious!
I love it when nations hold to tradition and display the many talents unique to an ethnic group.
What we have lost is the intellect to see that every person is a miracle. None of the technology Giants of today can duplicate the lowest form of human life as we define it. The most sophisticated computer bank known, cannot create a work of art., nor reprogram itself to accommodate change. ONLY a human being can REASON.
That filthy beggar on the street, has a brain capable of outperforming the best computer we can build. So why are we spending all our time building computers, and not developing that beggar? The simple answer is we can control the computer, but we can't control the man. If we are not careful, he may run off and become a Democrat! Ha Ha
But is control, the best thing for mankind? Are we the epitome of evolution. Do we live in the ultimate society? Judging by the level of chaos in the world today, I think not.
It is time that we demand development of people, along with development of technology! That is to say Technology development must accompany social development, and one should enhance the other, and both should be devoted to the development of the next generation. New minds combined with new technology can create a world we can't even dream of today.

Autumn is the regulator!  She is the referee!
wsucram15 Added Mar 8, 2017 - 5:15pm
She is going to employ blocking.  I only saw one person say that but apparently people have said that they wanted the option.
It will limit what you can see, therefore, cut off part of the page. If you cant police yourself, what good is the site?
But its not my problem.. I know how this will turn out.
EXPAT Added Mar 8, 2017 - 5:19pm
No Dino! You are the Master of your fate. You should not need another to regulate your behavior. Autumn has enough to do trying to build this site.
It is up to you to behave in a Civil Manner, without a referee!

Another pledge I make is to encourage new contributors, and be understanding when they break a rule for the first time.
I am a professional, and pledge to act like one from now on.
But I must admit, I enjoyed belittling some who would promote evil and rewrite history.

Thanks for the insight Espat, I pledge to follow the guidelines on all articles.

Maybe we should have a shit list. Collect the rudest comments for a certain period. Pick a winner for the nastiest and then vote them off the Island. I have been at this sight for a decent while and have never seen Autumn as upset as in recent past. Politics is extremely ugly and nasty now. Most have retreated into their different tribes and have a hard time being involved in an objective discussion. It is time to raise the bar and make civil truthful debate the objective.
Me and my brother used to fight with my sister all the time. My father got tired of it and put in a rule, If you have nothing nice to say you will say "That's Nice".
EXPAT Added Mar 8, 2017 - 10:49pm
Great Jenifer!  What can we learn from Rancor? Nothing. I have been guilty in the past, especially when I thought the site was shutting down. But now that Autumn has decided to stay, we can work to upgrade the discourse and rhetoric, so that professional people are not driven away, and we can recommend this site without reservation.
EXPAT Added Mar 8, 2017 - 10:58pm
Cliff M. We need to work to eliminate rude comments! Not collect them. See my comment to Ric Wells. This has been going on for a very long time.
Autumn championed free speech over civility and that was a disaster.
"It is time to raise the bar and make civil truthful debate the objective."
Well said, But it is up to US, the users of this site to make it work!.
Minister Peaceful Poet Added Mar 9, 2017 - 2:13am
If you can't come up with a rebuttal, silence is better than insults, name calling and accusations.  Because then when you do speak, people are apt to listen, you are more believable.  But those who blabber insults for a response show how little they really know and are often ignored and an irritant to everyone else. WB will not be a popular site if our debates are just simply throwing insults at one another.
Mircea Negres Added Mar 9, 2017 - 2:24am
I'm with you, EXPAT. Jaw, jaw is better than war, war- but in order for that to work we need a measure of civility.
Jeffry Gilbert Added Mar 9, 2017 - 2:33am
I'm of the opinion that Autumn staunchly believes in freedom and will never censor articles and authors.
Expat's idea about helping her is an excellent suggestion. The best way to do that is not to snipe at Autumn because so and so hurt someone's wittle bitty feewings!
Grow up people!
Don't use hours of her time trying to change her or even try to force her to explain herself. That my friends is THE BEST WAY TO HELP AUTUMN!!!
Don't like the way Autumn runs things go away. Just go away.
That's just me, I could be wrong.
Jeffry Gilbert Added Mar 9, 2017 - 2:35am
It really pissed me off that I felt the need to self censor my previous comment out of fear of deletion by Expat but I gritted my teeth because my premise is important.
EXPAT Added Mar 9, 2017 - 3:58am
My pledge was to censor myself, not others. I expect there will always be rancor. I just will not respond in kind.
Low mentality always resorts to profanity and insult. People like Michael B/Slade cannot get attention any other way.
EXPAT Added Mar 9, 2017 - 4:02am

It is nice to see that Autumn will continue on.  Maybe us children can behave better so she isnt put in uncomfortable situations so often.  Some people just need to take a chill pill before writing some of these things.  Just because we have the freedom to say anything, doesnt mean we have to exploit it and push the envelope as far as we can.
Dr. Rupert Green Added Mar 9, 2017 - 1:15pm
yes we should. When I suggested we use our skills TO write for some federal grant t help our site, I wAS BEING VISIONARY. wE CAN STILL DO IT IF ANYONE WISHES TO HEAR ME OUT.
Henry Ortiz Added Mar 9, 2017 - 2:29pm
I agree, one thing is being free to express our ideas and another is to limit our vocabulary to certain expressions thinking that it is the only way to make our point. How sad is to see how we kill our language by putting limits to our knowledge..
Shane Dean Added Mar 9, 2017 - 2:55pm
Thanks for throwing this out there, EXPAT.  I think I have done a pretty good job of remaining civil but I know I may have pushed things a little to personally when I get tilted a bit.
As far as policing, I think peer pressure and lack of response are enough.  This recent incident served as a good reminder to us all that we can lose something we care about if we don't all work to take care of it.
Finally, I know it is hard for you sometimes to swallow when someone writes something really out there and inflammatory, so I think it showed a lot of character when you removed your rant.
Jon Nakapalau Added Mar 9, 2017 - 9:32pm
Just treat everyone the way you would like to be hard is that?
EXPAT Added Mar 9, 2017 - 9:35pm
Shane. You are one of the most rational contributors to this site. A year ago, I decided to go after the frauds on this site who promote copy/paste ideas they don't fully understand. That was a mistake, as they and their followers are delusional because they cannot handle the Truth of the world they live in.
No amount of argumentation will change that. I will now dedicate my efforts to support those I agree with, and write provocative Articles refuting the delusional phantasmagoria when it gets too abusive of America, minorities, and world conditions.
The Mass Media is totally out of control. They twist any event into what they think their progressive followers want to hear, and destroy good people and America in the process. We must be the voice of reason.
It is up to the level headed people like ourselves to promote the facts, without arguing with pearl eating pigs.
You are correct, that my instinct is to fight. But I am choosing an intellectual course of reason over emotion. You have helped me see that is the better way.
I don't expect Autumn to exercise any better judgment in who she invites to this site, or who she recommends, so this positive approach will help promote good writers and thinkers.
EXPAT Added Mar 9, 2017 - 9:46pm
Henry Ortize.
I agree completely we are killing our language. But the world we live in is acronyms, innuendo and talking points.
If you are going to reach an audience, you have to talk their language! I have decided that the people who use insults and rancor are not worth reaching.
When the time comes, I will publish an article denouncing them. That way I can delete their stupid insulting comments with out sinking to their level of argumentation.
EXPAT Added Mar 9, 2017 - 9:52pm

Eliminate the negative
And latch on to the affirmative

Thank you for your kind words, Expat.  I have tried to be even keel, even when I find another writer's piece just hurtful and misguided like you have mentioned. I can honestly say there were a few times I wish I hadn't engaged in some conversations, purely because I knew I was dealing with someone who mainly just wanted to argue rather than have a thinking discussion.  All I know it that I am going to work hard to keep things civil on here, but I am not going to sit back so much if someone is going out of bounds and doing things that will turn folks away from this site.
Anyway, good on you for trying to take a higher road.

Expat- I totally agree.
There are those out here who do not seem to know the definition of slander (I won't mention any names but his initials are Ryan Messano).
Simple, if one disagrees then they should offer their reasons and not resort to childish name calling and insulting.

As a later contribution: yes! Let us speak to each other as we would like to be spoken to. With respect - with sarcasm, wit, direct phrases even on the verge of being contemptible if you like, but Not gratuitous slagging.
Bill H - yes those initials, sadly. Something tells me that such commentary is a kind of cry for help from somewhere inside.
Keep up the good work.
