Missle strikes and fashion topic of dinner conversation

For all those staunch Trump supporters who believe he is the best thing since sliced bread realize that he makes light of everything of consequence except cold hard cash.

The topic of the missle strike in Syria last week was discussed with the Chinese president during dessert and before coffee.

Ambitious Ivanka Trumps fashion line was also discussed at the meal and now lo and behold her fahionline is now being offered in China.

The proper paperwork and other safeguards were handled.

China is defending its handling of trademark applications from President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka and her company, saying that all such requests are handled fairly.

Nordstrom eat your heart out. She has arrived on the Chinese mainland and now has a larger customer data base to launch new product offerings.

Karl Marx must be turning over in his grave by now. His definition of "Das Kapital" and the first family's "Big Bucks" modern interpretation of the term  makes all of us scratch our heads a bit more incredulous these days.

So  you avid Trump supporters be happy that your leader's motto of "Make America Great Again" has morphed into "Make the Trumps More Money".

Why should there be conflicts of interest concerns. She and Mr T. have that ll inclusive trust fund that prevents them from any type of residual kick back issues during his stay in office.

Of course the president has this same type of anonymous trust fund from which he can extract cash reserves whenever the spirit moves him. A sweet deal for a modern day carpetbagger.

Ah yes America  the home of the flea and the land of the knave.

Your proud son is milking you dry.

It was obvious during the campaign what Trumps priorities were.
Himself, His family, and His Empire.

Dino - TOTAL DISARRAY!!!
All they have gotten done is a new conservative SCOTUS, restored the border, drastically reduced illegal immigration, added hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs, got corporations (foreign & domestic) to make multi-billion dollar investments in American manufacturing plants, exposed the Obama Administration's corruption and incompetence, made every Democrat act like spoiled children and showed the entire country exactly WHO WON'T SUPPORT THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION:

But keep up the "progressive" hissy fit strategy - it appeals to irrational and lazy people who don't vote anyway.  The Democrats are desperate - dimwit Maxine Watters is their "spokesperson", they have ZERO young prospects, and the LOWEST NATIONAL PARTICIPATION RATE (22%) in modern history.  With 25 Democratic Senators in Red States up for re-election in 2018 all it takes is 6 losses to make the Senate filibuster proof.  3 more SCOTUS judges will be retiring soon and with no filibuster power (thanks to Harry Reid) the Supreme Court will have 8 conservatives to 1 liberal judge for decades to come!!!

After horrendous losses in 2018, the "progressives" will have taken the once proud and relevant Democratic Party from prominence to the "Trash Heap of History" where they belong.

Dear Mike - hope you don't have any children or grandchildren because your ridiculous crowing about Trump will end up with your descendants living in an uninhabitable world.  But perhaps you are on your own here and don't give a damn about climate change and what is happening in this very real sixth extinction event.  I advise you read about it - take off the blinders.  But perhaps as a loner you're an extinction event yourself.

Just as Killary would have done.

Both Trumpster and Killary are batshit fuckin' crazy in a very special way. An uninhabitable world is headed this way not because of either of those crazed idiots but by the design of the even crazier idiots who control them and everything else.

The deep state sees that their complete looting of the planet and people has come to the end so they're going to cause global thermonuclear war to deflect the blame and their otherwise inevitable date with the guillotine.

Look on the bright side, Fukushima has rendered climate change a moot point.

Do have a great day, mind the gap between train and platform. Off you go now. Bye.

The Trumpsters just blindly follow their hero anywhere his unstable mind seems to wander. If tomorrow he decides to practice some détente with North Korea, they will support it. If he decides to bomb the shit out of them, they will go along with that. If he decides that killing puppies and kittens is a "beautiful thing", they will support that too.

I would like you to be specific and state exactly what you believe Trump has done that will end all life as we know it???  I heard the EXACT SAME CRAP about Ronald Reagan back in 1980!
                      - He's gonna get us in a war with the USSR!
                      - He's gonna starve old people and babies
                      - He's gonna destroy the labor unions
                      - He's gonna let Gays die from AIDS

You people on the left never hold yourselves accountable for anything you say.  Results don't matter, just intentions do!

Let me be specific Mike please read my book The Burning Years and I would absolutely love to talk with you and have a discussion about it. It's a fairly scientific look at climate change with a great story attached.  You can find it on Amazon.  Looking forward very much to having a discussion with you!

I am not "insulting", I am telling the truth. It the truth comes as an insult to some, so be it.
I have friends that voted for Trump. About half of them now regret their vote. The other half are just as I described. They believed (and still believe) virtually every word he has uttered since the beginning of his campaign, and have bounced back and forth thru every flip-flop he has done and always have a defense or reasoning why he "did this" or "didn't do that".
It reminds me of defending the pesky mosquito at the picnic.
Mike Haluska Added Apr 21, 2017 - 10:16am
Felicity - thank you for the book referral.  Just so you're aware of my position on "Climate Change":

1) the Earth's climate has been changing since it was formed, everyone agree on that
2) the current CO2 concentration in the Earth's atmosphere is 400 ppm - it is a TRACE GAS
3) the total amount of CO2 (percentage) in the atmosphere directly attributable to human activity (fossil fuels) is less than 2%
4) EVEN IF we somehow eliminated ALL HUMAN ACTVITY generating CO2, the atmospheric CO2 concentration would only drop to 394 ppm.  If 400 ppm didn't "wreck the planet", why would 394 ppm???
5) the proponents of man-made "Climate Change" (they used to call it "global warming" until the Earth stopped warming the past 25 years) use "correlation is the same as causality" and "Consensus Science".  Neither are scientifically valid.

Why Artists Need to Know About Global Warming’s “Six Americas” and the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication
rel="category tag">Susan Hoffman Fishman  3 Comments

rel="attachment wp-att-5025">
In preparing for a submission to an international art competition on climate change, I came across The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication (YPCCC), a dedicated program within Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Fascinated by their research on public climate change attitudes, behaviors, knowledge, and policy preferences, I reached out to Associate Director, Lisa Fernandez, whose insights guided my application. What I learned from her and from studying the program’s data convinced me that the work of YPCCC is critical to artists of all disciplines whose art is focused on stimulating awareness of, and action against, man-made climate change. Specifically, Lisa called my attention to Global Warming’s “Six Americas.”
I have been as guilty as other artists who may assume that their creative expressions against an alarming global threat will be endorsed by an audience of like-thinkers and will convert those who think otherwise. But, in fact, the research conducted by YPCCC indicates that it is not so simple. They explain:

There is no one public response to climate change. Instead there are different audiences or “interpretive communities” within society who each respond to the issue in their own distinct ways. One of the first rules of effective communication is “know thy audience” – including who they are, what they currently understand or misunderstand about climate change, their perceptions of the risks, their underlying values, attitudes, and emotions, where they get their information, whom they trust, etc.

In other words, understanding your broader audience is a ‘critical first step’ to actually impacting their beliefs and actions.

rel="attachment wp-att-5023">
According to the research, first conducted by YPCCC in 2008 and then updated as recently as 2016, there are six distinct American audiences with regards to climate change: the alarmed, the concerned, the cautious, the disengaged, the doubtful and the dismissive. Only the alarmed, representing just 18% of Americans, are fully convinced of the threat posed by climate change and are taking some sort of action to address it. Although the concerned, at 34% of the population, agree that it is a significant reality, they have not yet become actively involved in addressing the issue. The rest of the population are not yet fully convinced of the global dangers posed by climate change. (See video explaining the six Americans.)
Just as other groups interested in generating support for actions to combat climate change (such as environmental organizations, local, state, and national governments, businesses and the media, etc.) are using the framework of the Six Americas to direct their messages, so do artists need to consider the six diverse audiences of Americans if they want to effect real changes in attitudes.
The resources contained on the YPCCC’s website are extensive and include additional information on audiences and their opinions, the barriers to behavioral change and climate action, what messages are best for engaging different audiences and combatting misinformation on climate change. The New York Times recently highlighted the research of YPCCC in its article, “How Americans Think About Climate Change, in Six Maps.”
rel="attachment wp-att-5020">
Two maps from the article shown above reveal a clear disconnect between the responses to the statements: (Left) Global warming will harm people in the United States, vs. (Right) Global warming will harm me personally. The responses on the left show that most people know climate change is happening (Light yellow-red being 50% – 100% agree) but those on the right indicate tha

you're going to put art exhibitions up as some sort of "scientific proof" of anything?  You and Bill H are the ROCKS!  Read what I wrote and tell me where I am wrong.  Either human generated CO2 is warming the Earth or it isn't - you can't have it both ways.

You can have all the polls and studies you want - none of it is SCIENCE.  Here is what Yale University thought of their own "Climate Change Institute":
"Interesting article for those that care"
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/03/03/yale-university-closes-climate-change-institute/

It seems when the government grant "Gravy Train" is cut off that none of the "environmentally aware and concerned" and politically enlightened alumni and friends of Yale actually give a shit about lousy "science".  So what "statistical category" do all of you who won't donate a dime of your OWN MONEY to save this "institute".  I did my own study - you all fall 100% into the category of:

"Scientifically ignorant and also arrogant enough to denigrate those who oppose your view while demanding that those same opponents wages be taxed to pay for your views - while still possessing the hypocrisy to NOT open your own purses to save a "necessary and vital institution without which the Human Race will perish".

This continued fiction that those who "believe" in human caused "Climate Change" are caring while those who don't are apathetic is getting old.  If you came to me using the same methods claiming that there is no "Climate Change" I would do the same thing - point out that your methods are NOT LEGITIMATE SCIENCE!

Mike - I think we know who has fed you the talking points, and possibly who you work (or have worked) for.
You wouldn't be making this subject your apparent religion and become so emotionally involved if this wasn't the case.
I have read both "sides", but I have to agree with the 90%++ world scientists who agree that the earth is warming mainly due to the byproducts of the human race.
So we agree to disagree.
No name calling or labeling from my side.

Mikey HaHaHaluska does his usual lies: restored the border, drastically reduced illegal immigration, added hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs, - Trump has, eh?  Trump and Trumpists have gotten nothing done but make Trump wealthier.  What "hundreds of thousands of jobs" has he created?  Once again Mikey, even the sunniest of rightist wet dreams make for no cites in your posts.  Prove any of this.  You can't because it is not and never was true.

Bill H - go back a few months and re-read some of the accusatory posts by you and others desperately trying to discredit my position using "guilt by association".  It didn't work before, I demonstrated I am not a current or past employee or consultant to "Big Oil".

The "religion" is all on your side - as evidenced by your "90% of scientists" crap - which is simply "CONSENSUS SCIENCE". As many times as I have debunked this pseudo-science, the only conclusion is that you accept "Climate Change" on FAITH - also a requirement of RELIGION . . .  NOT SCIENCE!!!!
