He was elected, officially. So whether he thinks people are dumb or not is not relevant. But I'm sure that's what he thinks. And maybe.....anyway, live with it. The whole West is crumbling, so it doesn't matter which puppet sits up there.

Because even Trump can't fight high finance. He has the nuclear button, though. He might figure hey I'm old, so what the hell :-)

BTW: Let's face it - you CAN'T do anything. Your constitution doesn't allow that. But maybe the MIC will settle that affair when he gets too close to Russia. Remember Kennedy and the FED ? ;-)

Notice how the "patriotic" republicans blocked the release of his tax returns, McConnell won't support a Special Prosecutor and none of them are concerned.  They want his Russia investigation to go away because they need him to rubber stamp their agenda to screw the working class and give the 1% more tax breaks they don't need whle taking away your rights in the process.  I hope the trump supporters enjoy the pain.
Bill Kamps Added May 10, 2017 - 2:46pm
Certainly Trump has done and said a lot of questionable things.
Firing Comey is fraught with problems both of appearances and reality.  It is not however against the law.  Comey probably should have been fired last July when he gave a press conference on the state of the Clinton investigation, castigating her, while at the same time saying she would not be indicted.  This was not his speech to make, it is up to the AG to decide whether to press charges, and as many in the Justice Dpt have said, we never blast someone in a speech, and then say we arent prosecuting.  Doing what he did just before the election was also very questionable.  So maybe he deserved to be fired, even if the ethics and politics looks suspicious.

As for criticizing the press, every President does this.  Just because you criticize the press, does not mean you have changed the First Amendment.

Im sure if a health care plan does get passed it will bear little resemblance to what the  House passed.  So who knows what we will get, just like we had no idea what Obamacare would give us.

@ Stone, actually there are many things we can do, maybe not as one person, but as a whole..The more he mis- uses his power, the more ammo we have.Unless he hits nuke button first :(
@ Bill, I didn't say he changed the First, i said he attacked it. He believes his own fake news, but has the audacity to not accept any other..what does this say about ones personality, and demeanor? Bill all have said Comey was a well respected and informed person, I ask again why now?? Getting to close to some truth? see how now we can all speculate again.
@ Robert, i agree, funny the same people who never wanted Trump for Pres, are now bending on one knee for the man.Meaning those other Republicans.

Bill Kamps Added May 10, 2017 - 3:11pm
You are not attacking the First Amendment when you attack the press.  The media and press say a lot of things that are nonsense, both on the right and on the left.  That Trump is rather clumsy in his attacks, does not mean that somehow he is restricting our rights, or the rights of the press going forward.

Not all say Comey was well respected, and several Justice Department comments said that what he said about the HRC investigation in July, and then again in late October was inappropriate and unfair to her.  Nevertheless, he serves at the pleasure of the President.

I am also not saying that Trump's real motives weren't self serving, very possible they were.  But it is not unethical, or illegal to remove an appointed member of the government.  It may not have been smart, and it may not have been right, but those kinds of things happen in government, just maybe not at so visible a level.
Donna Added May 10, 2017 - 3:17pm
@ Bill, thank you for clarifying. I didn't agree with what he did during the election process, and i am not sure if he should have been fired or not, it simply seems like all they are trying to do is keep all a secret, protect only themselves, and to hell with the rest of us..By them i mean the new administration.

I for one am glad Corney was fired. This whole "Russian investigation" is nothing but a Witch Hunt to persecute people for freedom of association (a core American value and right). This is pure Russophobia bigotry and McCarthyism. The only purpose being to put Americans in a pre-war mindset regarding Russia. War with Russia would quickly turn nuclear and mean the END of our entire species. This is psychotic warmongering and utterly insane. As a awakened progressive I'm opposed to war and certainly insane genocidal/suicidal ones such as what the Deep State neoliberals and neocons are trying to push for. All that Russia is even accused of is telling the American people the truth about the DNC rigging the primarys for Hillary Clinton, nothing more. How is whistleblowing about election tampering itself elect tampering unless one's argument is that American elections are only "fair" if the voters are deceived? If that's the case it's a clear admission that America is no longer a democracy and that only the powerful should determine who is elected via actual election tampering and outright fraud.

As for as freedom of the press, I've not seen Trump do anything except call a lot of liars in the mainstream media on their shit. As far as actual censorship I would be more concerned about the corporate mainstream media outlets than Trump:

"Firing Comedy won't end the investigation" Maybe not but I don't see how an "investigation" based entirety on bullshit can yield any results. The entire "investigation" is based on the "intelligence" community and corporate mainstream media ASSumption that Russia hacked the DNC, & that somehow Trump was involved. Problem is that there is still ZERO proof that anyone hacked the DNC let alone any evidence of Russian involvement. They just ASSume it's a fact and move forward to investigate skipping entirely the fist two proofs. Can a President be impeached based on evidence-free assumptions? I certainly hope not because that would indeed mean that the once great Republic is a full-on draconian Police State.

This system is unsustainable because its built on a foundation of fraud, wizardry, hocus pocus, lies, deceit, and general bullshit.  So one day something will finally start the implosion.  Paper wealth will evaporate. The press praised Trump's missile strike into Syria that he barely explained. Little follow up reporting on what exactly happened that prompted firing 60+ missiles. Why wasn't the airstrip utterly destroyed? Did all of the weapons hit their target?

The press is nearly silent on the provocations which risk nuclear war in the Korean peninsula. Why?

The press seems desperate to find a link between Russia and Trump, to claim Russia 'stole the election', and a lot of other nonsense ('Putin is the devil', 'Trump likes to be peed on while in Russia', nonsense).

Why? What is the this sudden desperation to paint Russia as the devil when during the late 60's and 70's they were cool? Are these these the same people, Baby Boomers who were calling each other comrade in the early 70's now freaking out about Russia. Wanting to fight Putin in Syria ('Assad must go'---WHY????).

The U.S. media seems bought off and collectively pushing a narrative. It seems to be confrontation with Russia at any cost. Again, why?
Patrick Writes Added May 10, 2017 - 9:02pm
What I think is this: The Petrodollar system (which preserves the U.S. dollar as the reserve currency) risks breaking up. This is based on Saudi Arabia twisting OPEC's arm to sell all oil in U.S. dollars. (You want oil? You need U.S. dollars.)

Saudi Arabia has called in a favor or two over the years in exchange (both Gulf Wars). And now the Iran-Russia-China alliance risks the collapse of the whole arrangement. They have a lot of energy that they are not selling in U.S. dollars around the world.

If the Petrodollar system collapses, countries around the world no longer need U.S. dollars to buy oil, no longer need to park U.S. dollars in U.S. treasuries which literally funds America's yearly budget deficits (it's military, entitlements, space program, etc...).

And if nobody wants to buy U.S. dollars, the Fed can 'create money' to buy U.S. treasury. But this is a short term measure (you're basically printing dollars to cover the budget shortfall each year and pay off the debt). You risk destruction of your currency.

So the result is, the U.S. learns to live within it's means. The budget deficit problem solves itself, but painfully. And the America government (and likely society) accepts a lower standard of living.

That's why lots of important people are desperate for war, to stop this chain of events. The China-Russia-Iran alliance has to be brought down by any means necessary or the Petrodollar system is toast.
Patrick Writes Added May 10, 2017 - 9:04pm

Patrick you are quite right about the petro dollar. Its why we have been inside Middle East life and politics for years.  If the axis of China-Russia-Iran break the dollar we have no one needing our currency.  There are some crackpots (including here on WB) that believe we can just print and hand out what we do not have.  The truth is we don't know where that would lead us.  Money is suppose to represent a system of value and when it becomes unlimited it looses value (hyperinflation.)

Our politicians have told us we can have it all.  Trillion or more on a strong military, low taxes, social programs, etc. and so the US never picks and chooses.  Whoever is pressuring Congress with money gets the favors thrown their way. Its always someone with power like the MIC or Wall Street.

I don't claim to fully understand this stuff. The two Gulf Wars make no sense. Countries don't spend a trillion dollars on wars for no reason.

The first Gulf War was Saudi Arabia calling the U.S. to honor their agreement made by the Nixon administration in the early 70's. In 1990, Saddam had one of the most powerful militaries in the Middle East, invaded Kuwait, Saudi Arabia was so concerned that it asked the U.S. military to add a base in Saudi Arabia and drive Saddam out of Kuwait, USA did both.

Apparently Gulf War 2 was more complex, but in the wake of the U.S. removed it's military base. Syria is about oil as well.

Here's the truth about "Russia-gate", some very informative reading:
The Scandal Hidden Behind Russia-gate – Official Washington has the Russia-gate scandal almost 180-degrees wrong; it is not about protecting democracy, but about pushing Americans into more wars, the true scandal that is being missed, writes Daniel Lazare.
The Washington Post and New York Times editors are trying to relive the glory days of their youth by comparing Trump’s firing of FBI chief James Comey to Richard Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre at the height of Watergate. Donald Trump, it seems, is a threat to democracy just as Tricky Dick was more than 40 years ago, so the only thing that can save us is a special prosecutor who will get to the bottom of Russia-gate once and for all.
But not only is this nonsense, it’s pernicious nonsense that itself amounts to a cover-up. Here’s how Russia-gate is not the same as Watergate and why, in fact, it’s the opposite (see article at the link)
