WHO NEEDS A LEADING POWER ?

My Recent Posts

Actually.....

no one.

And especially not the USA, or, how they call themselves in sheer geographic ignorance, AMERICA .... Peru or Chile are America too. But then - for a people who can't take Sweden and Switzerland apart, it might be too difficult to see that one country doesn't make up a continent (except Aussie).

The US is on a downward spiral - intellectually, that is. Not in terms of weapons, oh no. But then - weapons replace intellect. Weapons are the ULTIMATE argument. That's why the US has so many military bases.

One who has enough fire power doesn't have to argue. Huh ? Ah. Bang !

The US is a good example on how a place can be populated by n cultures and nationalities and then get the idea that they've become as one. On false promises. You are in the gutter and you won't become Mr. Sugarmountain because you prayed in front of the Statue of Liberty (......).

Obamacare was in fact a good idea. But no ! How dare the state interferes in private matters ! Ask the homeless close by. Bridges are collapsing, millions on the dole, infrastructure is going down, and you watch an elite getting richer and richer while you run into problems.

Get over it. The US is fucked up. And new wars abroad will probably change public attention for a while "Mission accomplished" (LOL that was a joke), but it will not improve anything in the country. It will eat the investments you'd need at home. Nevertheless people in the US will play Titanic up to the end. "We're going down for the right cause......" ;-)

The world says:

We don't want to be colonized no more.

We don't want to eat junk food no more.

We don't want to be told what's wrong or right by people who don't respect other cultures and values for the sake of profit.

We don't want to lose our identity.

We don't want to play small anymore for other people's interests.

We don't want to be lectured on religion by people wo don't even respect their own.

We're no more ready to be killed for other people's wars.

So, big powers, shove your arms up your ass and try to convince people by using brain that YOU'RE the one and only who have the solutions.

Given you have one.

For the moment brain is out of stock, so it seems. I hope that moment won't be a lasting one.

BTW: This is a call for realism and thought. Not against the people of the US. But to try to make them THINK.

Sorry, it might be a general frustration we have here. We see the US as a nation of about 330 million unable to kick out their financial masters and simply watching to see that the original great idea of the US has become a dangerous caricature....

Stone-Eater writes "we Europeans see that the US needs the final war against Russia - for resources."
Being that such a war could only involve the US starting it and with Russia absolutely unwilling to lose, it would quickly escalate to nuclear. Leaving the remaining resources radioactive and useless. About as useless as the neocons who think such madness is a winnable situation.

Russia has been invaded through Eastern Europe several times. It was understandable that after they defeated Nazi Germany the USSR would retain defences against western powers.
Especially given Churchill's back stabbing and sabre rattling and Truman's barbarity in Japan and then Korea. The Cold War was born in Washington and London, not Moscow.
Modern day Russia wants peace and trade.
NATO and the EU exist to ensure that Russia and western Europe, especially Germany, remain divided and dominated by the Atlantic powers.
The Great Game lives on in the minds of the lunatics that run the world.

Indeed. It steams my cookies reading these western ignoramuses pontificating on the stupidity and 'tribalism' etc of black and brown people everywhere. Or their inability to 'handle democracy' and all that paternalistic guff.
There's a lot more intellect and real politics to be had in the slums of the 3rd world than there is in the echo chamber of western media dominated candy floss and bullshit.
As if the US military exists to keep the peace or protect people.
It exists to enforce US corporate domination of resources, markets and labour. And to make the weapons manufacturers wads of money.

My guess the PRC and Russia will dominate the Afro-Eurasian "Heartland" for a while, if they can successfully tilt toward Iran to cause a weaker Shia Caliphate to form instead of a Sunni Caliphate that could contend for control.

I just lost a brilliant but too long comment, so will keep this one short.  I agree the US is progressing downhill fast on sheer inertia.  However, I believe the US and governments around the world are at the mercy of the multi-national corporations and bankers, in debt up to their eyebrows, and desperate to save face.

Now John G and I disagree about economics and the fraudulent nature of the Fed and central bankers, but I agree with him in many of his comments above.

The US is paranoid, and paranoid people (and governments) are dangerous.  Regular folks here have been seduced by centrally controlled media but they are increasingly aware that the American Dream has become a nightmare.

You present the argument of Europe quite well. You ask why America must lead. Your the reason. Europe has constructed another 100 year war situation by setting up another religious war that will be have blood flowing in the streets for a hundred years. I hope your proud of your leaders. Enlightenment happened as a result of the first war between the Catholic Church and the Protestant Churches (protest is the core word). Thomas More, Thomas Hobbes, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, G. W. F. Hegel, and Karl Marx are the philosophers that Europe chose. They also infiltrated America which is the cause of our stumbling and we to may fall with you.

They teach what I call the bee hive approach, that of an hierarchy of leaders that make decisions for the rest of society. The members are not individuals but part of a whole and the wants and needs and even the life of an individual is meaningless to the whole and the individual is to sacrifice life to the whole.  Government wants people to be equal in outcomes which only occurs if we loose our personal identity, a mob. That is what we see in the streets. Speaking with one voice because they have forfeited their individuality for the mistaken believe of the collective. WWIII is here within the borders of your nations. They have used small wars as distraction and tools to create the conditions to sell collectivism. Islam is a hive religion.  The war will be between opposing hives.

America choose Moses, Saxons, Seven Indian Tribal Nation, John Locke, Marcus Tullius Cicero, Charles Montesquieu, Adam Smith, and Thomas Aquinas that teach natural law, the creator's law. This law does not change from when man was hunters and gathers to space travelers.

From the Lincoln Douglas Debate for the Illinois Senate seat
In the founders enlightened belief nothing stamped with the define image and likeness was sent into the world to be trodden on, degraded, in brutianed by its fellows They grasped not only the whole race man then living but they reached forward and seized upon the farthest posterity. They erected a beacon to guide their children and their children's children and the countless meariades how should inhabate the earth in other ages. Wise statesman as they were they know the tendency of prosperity to breed tyrants so they established these great self evident truths that when in the distant future some man some faction some interest should set up the doctrine that non but rich men or non but white men were entitled to life liberty or the pursuit of happiness their posterity might look up again at the Declaration of Independence and take courage to renew the battle which their fathers began so that truth justice and mercy and all the human and Christian virtues might not be extinguished from the land so that no man would here after dare to limit an subscribe the great principles on which the temple of liberty was being built.

How do you wish away Israeli crimes against Palestinians?
Easy, deny the existence of Palestinians.
Over 20% of the population of NK was killed by US bombing, every single city and town was leveled, dams were targeted, agriculture was targeted.
All while they were rounding up labour leaders in the South for slaughter by the military junta who'd been clients of the Japanese imperialists.
Between 3.5 and 5 million Vietnamese were killed in the war years alone and many more since. Then there was Cambodia, Laos etc.
These are but two of the regular mass slaughters that the US has committed. There are many many others.
But none of this happened according to the Coreys, Kellys, Stocktons and Jacksons of this world.

But you get nothing from Trump, not even the VP.
Just go on twitter, its the attention span he has.  @POTUS, his staff will see it.
On Georges comment, why are you all giving him a hard time. He is often right. Not always, but often. China is definitely building up their defenses as is Iran and North Korea well if China stops backing us, we are in trouble there.
On Russia, well, we do not have a strong or educated President in these matters. I mean Tillerson is expected next after Session (partially due to conflict over Sessions- they are calling it Rexit) , Mattis (also very unhappy with Trump at the moment), McMaster is quieter but is said to have looked at other posts due to the conflicts in decision-making.
Russia will do what is best for Russia and the other countries as well. No one thinks the US is in charge or even a super power anymore, not even our allies.
Im sure we can still play hand, but we are getting chased out of the South China Sea (the Phillipines) and ultimately will in other areas as well.

Not always, but often.- Geo has proven himself a constant whiner and as big a troll as he accuses others of being.  It doesn't matter if he's "right" some of the time.  Geo will never do anything about his whining complaints, anyway.

JM Your logic appears to be that to you the deep state sounds like a secret society.
You see no evidence of a secret society in operation therefore the deep state does not exist.
Ergo anyone who believes a deep state exists (whatever the definition) is a conspiracy theorist worthy of ridicule.
I'd suggest your 'logic' is far more worthy of ridicule. It is a poorly constructed logical fallacy.
You can call it the national security state if you wish but whatever it has existed since (at least) Truman's time when he enacted the major organs of it.
Only a fool would deny there is a structure behind the facade that makes the majority of policy.

Whatever. You might as well try to write an article yourself once instead of talking stuff that only Americans understand."

Trust me, NO ONE understands what in the hell that lunatic is saying. He is WAY too incoherent and cra cra CRAZY. There are not enough drugs on earth to translate that madness.

John G writes "Only a fool would deny there is a structure behind the facade that makes the majority of policy."
And yet he does. But then again he is the Writer’s Beat fool. Now that you understand you can also see that, unless you are bored and looking to work off some steam, there is absolutely no point whatsoever in engaging an irrational lunatic fool like Jeff. Incidentally he thinks everything he disagrees with is a conspiracy, not just the Deep State. Plus he will attack anyone who doesn't share his warped world view (as demonstrated on this thread). He is a total loon.

Perfect Priestess JenJen continues her libel spewing: Plus he will attack anyone who doesn't share his warped world view (as demonstrated on this thread). He is a total loon. - And JenJen is a total Millennial fool, only capable of "coimfortable," beyond the grasp of solution "issues" to vest her rep in and comes unglued when someone doesn't believe her crap, or questions her.  How dare anyone, eh?  You are the one with cites from the Medium, not I, YET you libel me, and never take any responsibility for your conspiracy theories or statements.  Let's remind the rest of WB about JenJen's "fool of threes" she proudly proclaims as she does living her online life...Remember to observe the Rule of Three (No Threats
No Slanders & No Fake News)
in the comments...And yet her comments are full of nothing else, so, she's basically another online hypocrite.  John G challenges me with   "Only a fool would deny there is a structure behind the facade that makes the majority of policy"  Once agin, I'll offer a simpler explanation, as I have repeatedly, but have yet to have you or any of the other Deep State conspiracy theorists refute:  Simple explantion is OLIGARCHS ACT LIKE OTHER OLIGARCHS, ALL WANTING THE SAME THINGS; federal agencies act like federal agencies.  There is no plotting, there is no conspiracy, but just forces now well aligned, AND YET YOU PEOPLE CANNOT DEFINE THEM PAST "THEM" OR "THE DEEP STATE."  W

SEFa sez: Thanks for reminding me that I'm an antisemite. Almost forgot that LOL  Glad to help you remember it.  I never forgot it, and I'm not you.  You appear (operative word) to have bundled yourself in Africa, and forgotten your dislike of Jews. Perhaps anti-semitism as a way of life can be on the next agenda of The Deep State, when they meet up to plot WWIII and making Hillary Clinton, president.

How does every conversation on WriterBeat devolve into a discussion about antisemitism?
Stone, I disagree with you about the USA's power in the world, last I heard we have something like 800 military bases in the world. Problem that most Western Europeans have is that they've gotten too used to us protecting them!
OH! Western Europeans slamming the US? Okay, how about the USA just shuts up shop and goes home?  Sounds great, huh? Not so fast...
The US is gone, NATO is dissolved.... and Russia moves back in with tanks! Oh, what's that? That's another restaurant blown up by ISIS down your street...
The world is a will to power, and right now that power is the US. I don't like it much either, but without that power, who would take it's place? Russia? China?
Better be careful what you wish for....
Lady Sekhmetnakt Added Jul 28, 2017 - 2:13pm
Ridiculous the amount of biased and based on absolutely nothing, degree of Russophobia from people like Michael. Russia has around the same GDP as Italy. Neither Russia or Italy invade other countries. If someone is going to be paranoid about a country like Russia for no reason, why not be equally paranoid about Italy? Just plain ignorant.
Michael Cikraji Added Jul 28, 2017 - 2:22pm
Jenifer, I'm actually a supporter of Russia. However, they have a long history of rolling into their neighbor's yards with tanks.... Just ask Eastern Europe!
I don't know what GDP has anything to do with anything: Asia is constantly worried about North Korea. Yearly GDP of North Korea is about $12 billion. Bill Gates makes about $12 billion a year. Nobody's afraid of him...
Lady Sekhmetnakt Added Jul 28, 2017 - 2:28pm
Russia hasn't invaded anyone since they were the Soviet Union. Neither has Italy since they were fascists in WWII. If we're going to be frightened about a country that hasn't invaded anyone since they had an entirely different identity why not be fearful of an equivalent country?

Damn Italians! I suggest we build some NATO bases around them! Down with Italian aggression!
Michael Cikraji Added Jul 28, 2017 - 2:40pm
Uh, Jenifer... Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, and the Ukraine in 2014.
Lady Sekhmetnakt Added Jul 28, 2017 - 2:55pm
Georgia was a police action, and Ukraine, seriously? How do you pretend to be someone who likes Russia and push that NATO propaganda? Russia had a Navy base in Crimea for a very long time. Their continued military presence there is no more an "invasion" than the American Naval base in Cuba is an "invasion." And other than that Russia has placed no military units anywhere in Ukraine.

The following article explains this all in detail (as well as Russias presence in Syria) as well as debunking the ridiculous Russiagate nonsense.
“What’s Left of Russiagate — Are We Down to the 1,000 Paid Trolls?” https://medium.com/@markfmccarty/whats-left-of-russiagate-are-we-down-to-the-1-000-paid-trolls-222bb4c3b3ff

If you actually liked Russia or even international law you would be up in arms over America supporting the illegal coup in Ukraine in 2014 that put Neo-Nazis into power. Not Russia policing criminals and terrorists or having troops in their own damn bases.
Michael Cikraji Added Jul 28, 2017 - 3:09pm
I love Russia, I swear! That doesn't mean that I support everything she does.
I love the USA too, but I don't support everything she does either.
Okay, answer me this: if the invasion of Georgia was just a police action, why are they still there?
Jeff Michka Added Jul 28, 2017 - 3:24pm

Lady Sekhmetnakt Added Jul 28, 2017 - 3:24pm
Russia has a continuing presence in the breakaway republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, at their request, to prevent further military actions against them from Georgia. It's a protective matter, like NATO is supposedly in Europe.

Balderdash. They've been on the receiving end from western Europe (+ others).
Are you suggesting that they shouldn't have fought and defeated Nazi Germany?
Saint George Added Jul 31, 2017 - 4:33am
Balderdash.

You're obviously a shill for the Russians.

The former Soviet Union rolled into Poland in 1939 just a few weeks after Hitler; they rolled into Finland; they rolled into the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania); they rolled into Germany after the war (creating "East Germany"); they rolled into Hungary. Looks like a lot of rolling to any honest and open-minded reader of history.

Oh, wait, I forgot. You're a shill. So the whole "honesty thing" is moot. Never mind.
Michael Cikraji Added Jul 31, 2017 - 9:21am
@ Saint George: You're forgetting the Prague Spring, 1968! The Soviets rolled into Czechoslovakia.

If it weren't for the Soviet Union, the Allies probably wouldn't have won World War II.
We are eternally in debt to the people of the former Soviet Union, and it is sad that many of us in the West take their valor, and inhuman sacrifices and suffering, for granted all the time.

However, the Russians do have a long history of rolling into the yards of their neighbors... then sitting there for a few decades...

Hitler, USSR, Neapolitan, Islam, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Tamerlane, Atilla the Hun, Charlemagne, Thutmose III, Ashoka, Cyrus, Ch'in Shih Huang, and Augustus Caesar all created empires that follows the rule of the leader, the laws from the leader.  Individuals were not important.  Individuals were part of a collective and the good of the collective out weighed the individual in all respects including life itself.  The history of man is the history of such a mind set.

What you have been discussing since history is filled by the above governments is the details are opposing governments with basically the same mind set.  Those expressed by philosophers like Thomas More, Thomas Hobbes, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, G. W. F. Hegel, and Karl Marx.  History has shown the end result of this approach is the same, never changing.  Do we need leaders like these?  That is what we will get overall and with the know end result I conclude No we do not need leaders like them as the leading power.

We do have another choice that man has choose much less frequently.  Rome, America, and Great Brittan for periods of their existence are the choice of a leading power I choose.  They believe in the individual and understand that individuals when necessary can choose to face opposition as a collective making the came commitment required by their opposition, the countries defined above.
History in not important so it is cherry picked to send the message desired by leadership.  History presents a message for individuals to live by.  A set of rules that has been discovered time and time again for individuals in a society to live by.  The Declaration of Independence calls them natures laws.   Moses, Saxons, Seven Indian Tribal Nation, John Locke, Marcus Tullius Cicero, Charles Montesquieu, Adam Smith, and Thomas Aquinas teach natural law, the creator's law.
