The moderate middle is choosing sides

Evidence of the collapse in the middle is the lack of support for everyone in the middle. Hillary, JEB, Boehner. Democrats went to Bernie. Republicans went to tump (for the most part) Some stayed in the middle. I felt, as example, - better to support Hillary on the left of the tug-o-war; Bernie didn't have as good a chance to win. Republicans felt, that though they were actually closer to HRC and didn't like tump, at least he was party, and better to support him than to cross the line, and lose the tug-o-war.

If the left emerges winner, there will be plenty of RINOs, and If the right wins, there will be lots of DINOs. Candidates who wish to run against incumbents, in solidly blue, or red districts will run as the opposition, to gain some party support, and name brand recognition.

There is a cultural divide in America that appears unbridgeable and seems to be a harbinger of radicalization of more and more Americans.  "The middle" is no longer a side.    The Republicans are dominated by pro-gun, pro-religion, pro-military folks  The Democrats are dominated by the unionists, the environmentalists, and identity politics.  Both sides now favor BIG GOVERNMENT and fiscal responsibility is therefore out the window. The middle has no political party to represent its interests.

We MUST chose between a socialist state where group identity determines politics and .....well what? .....what's the alternative?  No one seems happy with the past values, rules, and ethics.  That's why the left will win.  They have a vision.  The right has no vision, no passion, no solutions.

So we're far down the road to perdition with government being a larger and larger factor in our daily lives.   Trump is alone in trying to go against this tide and is therefore opposed by all the big-gov't interests.   He will fail and fail miserably in his legislative agenda and his presidency will be effectively over in 2018 when the Democrats romp in the mid-terms.   He will rule by executive orders which will all be reversed by Elizabeth Warren in 2020, assuming she's left enough to get elected.

The vast majority who feel represented by NEITHER party are in effect irrelevant because disenfranchised.

It's all quite surreal.

It is true that the middle is eroding. Both the right and the left are expanding. America is polarizing and dividing. This is a natural process on the way to balkanization. The establishment knows that they cannot maintain their elite status forever. Tick, tock.

If we could ever get back to the time when we read, watched, and researched information that was not pre-packaged for us by those who stand to benefit by our division, this would not be an issue. You can thank the organizations and corporations who control our technology only for their own gain. We have become the puppets and the corporations control the strings. Both major parties are guilty.

The echo chambers of the internet, where people read blogs and sites which reinforce their own preconceived notions, serve to increase radicalization, but this is only one sentence, so it does not count.

But no matter what anyone says, Billy, that's a fine sentence.  It has a subject, a predicate and all the grammatical glory one sentence can muster.

I don't think the middle is eroding.  I think the extreme have gotten much louder and are noticed because they are great ratings ploys.  Spend sometime on alternative media.  They are not fixated with transgender bathrooms or overpaid athletes that do not want to stand for the National Anthem or Russia, Russia, Russia.  They are discussing real issues like how our debt based economy is killing the bulk of Americans (some literally), who by the way are white, black, gay, straight, Asian, Latin and any mix of people you can think of.

People watch Fox News or MSNBC and the only thing it does is make them dumber than they already are.
