Knights of the Democratic Party

My Recent Posts

Obama, the black knight on the white horse, did not complete the transformation. So Hillary, the Queen Mother, would bind the Nation together and complete the transformation started so many decades ago and fought for by great leaders, knights of the party. Obama was a knight born during Camelot, the Kennedy Administration and the fires of Dr. Martin Luther King's civil rights movement. King's father changed his and his son's names from Micheal to Martin Luther when the father returned from visiting Germany. Obama could done no wrong.  Anyone that worked for him does no wrong.  No one should question Obama.  He will go down as the best president in history.  Obama transformed America.  The economy actually improved from the mess he was given. He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

The Democratic party should return to power because the Republicans are evil, and Trump is a great icon of evil. The transformation that Obama talks about has been the corner stone of the Democratic party since it's conception.

This is the reason the history of the Democratic party needs to told.

The transformation is the same that the Democratic party wanted in Thomas Jefferson's administration.  The crown jewel of that transformation was the Louisiana Purchase.  And the two most important historical results of that purchase: double of the territory of the nation and opening up thus 2/3 of the nation to slavery. The states nearest to Canada were too cold for slavery.

Wealthy Southerners were able to retain seats in Congress and over time dominated the selection of judges and committees. They had a class society with barriers, federal and state, like Europe help retain wealth in the wealthy governing class. The Whig party also was dominated by the influence of donors, as both parties are today. These crony capitalist purchased the construction of federal and state barriers. The north had a weaker combination of barriers to retain wealth at the top. This two party cabal opposed the principles of the Declaration of Independence: law of Nature and Nature's God; Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness (understood as owning property, ones labor and the results); and the first ten Amendments, the Bill of Rights. The decisions of the bench and legislation show their opposition.

The Republican party formed in 1854 happened after the Kansas-Nebraska Bill that dissolved the terms of the Missouri Compromise and allowed slavery to be decided in the territories by popular sovereignty. Money interest would skew and vote towards slavery. Their first presidential candidate, John C. Fremont, won 11 of the 16 Northern states in 1856, and they took control of the House of Representatives 1858. It was clear that if the GOP gains continued, by 1860 they would control the White House and Congress and reverse all the gains, making the Louisiana Purchase free territory, and making all men equal everywhere, free.  Succession was the only way to stop the ending of slavery when the prediction came true.

Democratic transformation efforts didn't end with the Civil War, KKK became the first of a few thug armies of the Democratic party, Antifa are the thugs today. Segregation replaced slavery to achieve the goal.  Welfare and ghettos became the invisible chains. The new Whigs in the GOP created the Federal Reserve which failed to prevent about three runs on banks. This so destroyed the confidence of the people that they stopped purchasing and thus companies stop producing. The great depression resulted in the Democrats taking control of the Federal government which the have not relinquished for about 87 years, today.

The myth of white superiority after WWII could no longer be maintained and the surfs of segregation rose up. The only sacred part of the declaration not attacked by the Democratic party was property rights. Milton Friedman a Nobel Economist observed, "Paradoxes of experience is that, in spite of this historical evidence, it is precisely the minority groups that have frequently furnished the most vocal and most numerous advocates of fundamental alteration in a capitalist society.  They have tended to attribute to capitalism the residual restrictions they experience rather than to recognize that the free market has been the major factor enabling these restrictions to be as small as they are," and “the Southern states after the Civil War took many measures to impose legal restrictions on Negroes. One measure which was never taken on any scale was the establishment of barriers to the ownership of either real or personal property.” Capitalism & Freedom" Milton Friedman Univ. of Chicago Press 1962 p 108, 109

Democratic transformation again changed.  Illegal immigration flood was born.  They could no longer limit voting rights so they flooded voting booths with welfare purchased votes. The fourteenth Amendment was turned on its head. Chain migration and anchor babies were born by a Democratic Controlled Federal government. In the 50's Democratic Senator and now revered Union Leaders stood and the border to stop a flood of illegal immigrants. They told us they took jobs from Americans. The real meaning of the 14th Amendment can be found in Elk v. Wilkins, 112 U.S. 94 http://supreme.justia,com/cases/federal/us/112/94/) (1884),

National health care was in FDR's 1944 State of The Union list of needed components of the transformation, called the Second Bill of Rights.  The Bill of Rights were amendments to the Constitution.  But FDR and the Democratic party had no plans to amend the Constitution they wanted to overthrown it, Wilson's stretchable Constitution and today's 'living Constitution'.   Obama thought he would complete the transformation with National Health Care the only item on FDR's list not in place.  The overthrow of the Constitution and effect circular filing of the founders creation would be complete.

The reason for the anger is the failure to complete the transformation that was put in Hillary's hand since Obama did not complete it.  Ripped from her grasp at the last moment.  Trump ironically was the choice of Hillary and the media to be her opponent.  They gave him an order of magnitude of free media exposure during the GOP primary and succeeded in eliminate much better candidates. Trump is the most flawed candidate on the stage and daily we see those flaws.

A flawed Donald J. Trump was preferred by bubba, red neck, and fly over country voters to crooked Hillary. The Democratic cities and states that contained the FDR constructed Ghettos and welfare distribution centers, and there suburbs that held the Crony Capitalist plants were too concentrated to offset the voters that had seen there real income drop, jobs leave in trucks filled with the machines they operated, doctor refuse Medicaid patients, medical plans too expensive to own or not plan at all offered to those now self employed. They preferred to take a chance with the flawed Donald J. Trump that said we can make America Great Again. Many remember those same words from Candidate Ronald Reagan. And re elected Reagan because he actually accomplished that goal winning 49 states.

Money in the wallets of voter can offset the best plans of the Democrats socialist and Marxist. The democrats purchased with all there schemes over decades enough votes to win the popular vote, but failed to convince regions without decades of welfare and few Crony Capitalist plants to drink the cool aid. Will Trump put enough money in wallet for 2018 and 2020?

Obama deserves some credit, but he should have been pro-business and bipartisan on the economy; health care; and other issues to achieve more and bring the country together.  Racism isn't the problem, lack of family and values are.

Who needs FDR to BE a wheelchair so he could still be with us when we've got Sutrino?  Bet the FDR expert can't tell us anything about why some of FDR's political agenda didn't make it.  Clue:  It has something to do with why we got Harry Truman.  Okay Sutrino, here's your big chance to be a historian instead of just a mindless hack.

Thomas N.  did some editing.  Take a read.   George and the people know both parties are becoming rich for building barriers to competition and keeping the wealth in their hands and the hands of the next generations.

The Democrats always have had this as their goal.   Today's Democratic politicians often are not rich or members of the upper class as freshman Congressmen.   They are their to become members of that upper class and will step on anyone to get their.  Obama and Clinton are great examples.  If you have no principles become a democrat.  Kick your race to the curb.   Power and money is the only game in town.

GOP politicians are drawn to the flame of power and money.  As they get more of both they shed ideals to get throw the the gates of the belt way.

I don’t follow the perspective this article is coming from.  You seem to be mocking the Democrats but not once do you make that known.  You also got a few things very wrong:

-Seeing that it happened in the mid-1800s, The Civil War has nothing to do with one’s preference for Democrats or Republicans.

-There was a myth of white superiority before World War II, not after World War II.

-Illegal immigrants flood here when our economy is strong.  It has nothing to do with Democrats flooding the country for the purposes of skewing elections because illegal immigrants don't vote.
Thomas Sutrina Added Dec 1, 2017 - 9:48am
Charlie R., I started out presenting the present view of a liberal in America.   This is the image presented by the media day time talk shows, late night talk shows with their comics, and the news and opinion new programs.  Do you agree what I wrote is a good depiction?   I do not mock the Democrats, but I am highlighting features because I need to create the picture quickly.

"The Civil War has nothing to do with one's preference for Democrats or Republicans."  I said that the cabal of the Democrats and Whigs cause the formation of the Republican Party.   I said that more then half the population felt that those two political parties did not represent them.   Charlie the Civil War had a hell of a lot to do with preferences of the people at the time.  They believed in "all man are created equal" and wanted that principle in the declaration to be incorporated in the governing of the country.

Didn't I say this, "There was a myth of white superiority before World War II, not after World War II. "   That doesn't mean the people change that much.  Many still believed in white superiority and some still do today.   The civil right marches in the south and the desegregation of schools required federal troop intervention because many still believed in white superiority.

This is a myth, " illegal immigrants don't vote."   How does this work?  Do illegal immigrants have a mark on their body or have to have a badge on their cloth to identify them?  NO.   Can illegal immigrants get drivers licenses? YES.   Are votes required to present ID with a picture on it and be an approved form? NO   Are voting record up to date. NO.

Fraud occurs which mean that illegals do vote and people do vote in multiple locations.  A simple cross check program between ~22 states has list of people with the same SS number voting in different states.  The dead have voted in every election in the history of the nation.   Die within a few months of the election and that person is still on the books to vote.   Project Veritas has a video of hired consultants talking about busing in voters and how they get them to meet resident requirements,  like employment.  Illegals are among those people on the bus.
Charlie Raiche Added Dec 1, 2017 - 2:59pm
It sounded to me that you were mocking liberals so I don’t think it was a good depiction.

On the Civil War, my singular point is that it no longer has anything to do with one’s preference for Democrats or Republicans.

On white superiority, the only people that believe in such nonsense are KKK members and neo-Nazis.  The opinion of these people has no bearing on the general public.  The general public recognizes the fact one’s skin color matters very little.

On illegal immigrants, there is no evidence which supports the theory that illegal immigrants are skewing election results.  While I’ll be the first to support voters presenting IDs to vote, the result of all past elections would be unchanged if they were required to do so.  Can you produce a few examples of vote fraud, of course you could.  The point is that it’s not happening on some massive scale.  If it were, there is no way Trump would be president.
Thomas Sutrina Added Dec 1, 2017 - 3:43pm
Charles the KKK and neo-Nazis are on opposite ends of the political spectrum and the neo-Nazis have never had and support by any major or even second tier political party.

The KKK is another issue.  We know as a fact that one Democratic congressman was a KKK member and created a chapter but dropped out before being elected in 52 to congress.  FDR also chose a Democrat attorney that was never a judge on any court and a member of the kkk for the Supreme Court and the Democratic Senate sat him.  We do know that during the 60s Governors and many state and local officials that resisted the civil right laws were democrats.

And finally these Dixiecrats/Democrats in the Senate voted NO! for the Civil Rights Bills.

Charlie,  on a national level this is true, "On illegal immigrants, there is no evidence which supports the theory that illegal immigrants are skewing election results."  But on the local level including House of Representative Congressmen illegal immigrant very well could effect the choice.  In a close election a hundred or even less vote separate the winner from the looser.   That is two bus loads of people.  We all know that to work illegal immigrants get a social security number.  With that number they can easily become a voter.

I have a relative born in America to a immigrant legal from Mexico to help a friend from Mexico to illegally enter America.  Which he did.  He purchased SS numbers and obtained other paper so they could cross the border pretending to be legal immigrants visiting Mexico.  He is 80 and did this in the 50s when Democrats enforced deportation.
Thomas Sutrina Added Dec 1, 2017 - 4:15pm
Actually I am not sure were Neo-Nazi would be placed on the political spectrum.   Clearly Socialist and Fascist struggled for power in Europe and killed each other.  However their beliefs had many common threads.  Democrat party shares many of those thread which we can see since Bernie Sanders.  By his own words, a socialist, and was accepted into the Democrat primary and almost won.  Other Democrats have agreed with much of his beliefs.  And even Hillary leaned toward Bernie to get votes.   Both Socialist and Fascist would not accept the principle in the Declaration of Independence and it is clear that the Democratic party also did not accept these principles.  At the time of the Declaration I assume they excluded slave as not human so could agree the principles applied to free men.  Slaves were property not humans.  Indentured servants still existed at the time across the colonies.

The media attaches Neo-Nazi to the republican and even conservative wing of the GOP but that makes absolutely not sense.  Conservatism is the "conservation of the founders principles"  The Declaration of Independence is gospel to conservative.  The word all men are created equal,  laws of nature and of nature's God (the Ten Commandments for Judeo- Christian based society) and life, liberty, and property or pursuit of happiness (property).  is that gospel.

White supremacy violates the gospel outright.

Charlie even the RINO branch of the GOP and the Democrat leadership  both live in the swamp and deep state.  They fill their coffers with lobbyist money and craft bills to provide special dispensations to them.  The GOP never have been associated with any KKK type group of thugs.  The funding for Antifa have been traced back to extreme branches of Socialism and do to similarities possibly Fascism.   I can not separate them because they both believe and have used thugs to achieve their goals, Hitler and Lenin, Stalin, and Mao Tse Tung.

Amid other disturbing details, it’s now been revealed that “Onward Together” is a 501(c)4 “Social Welfare” organization, which means that it’s not required to disclose many of the details of its operations to the public or disclose who its donors are.

By receiving campaign funds, and then furnishing the funds to Antifa terrorist groups, Clinton may have implicated many of her supported in a crime.

Daily Caller reached out to five different Antifa linked groups, and only one was willing to deny donations from Onward Together. Soros-linked group, Indivisible, denied receiving financial support from Clinton or Onward Together."  https://pamelageller.com/2017/09/clinton-moved-800000-campaign-help-fund-antifa.html/

I think this great writer has you two tagged, RRBS & JM.  This first quote is the world you live in.  The other quotes I hope get you thinking.

“What good does it do me, after all, if an ever-watchful authority keeps an eye out to ensure that my pleasures will be tranquil and races ahead of me to ward off all danger, sparing me the need even to think about such things, if that authority, even as it removes the smallest thorns from my path, is also absolute master of my liberty and my life; if it monopolizes vitality and existence to such a degree that when it languishes, everything around it must also languish; when it sleeps, everything must also sleep; and when it dies, everything must also perish?

There are some nations in Europe whose inhabitants think of themselves in a sense as colonists, indifferent to the fate of the place they live in. The greatest changes occur in their country without their cooperation. They are not even aware of precisely what has taken place. They suspect it; they have heard of the event by chance. More than that, they are unconcerned with the fortunes of their village, the safety of their streets, the fate of their church and its vestry. They think that such things have nothing to do with them, that they belong to a powerful stranger called “the government.” They enjoy these goods as tenants, without a sense of ownership, and never give a thought to how they might be improved. They are so divorced from their own interests that even when their own security and that of their children is finally compromised, they do not seek to avert the danger themselves but cross their arms and wait for the nation as a whole to come to their aid. Yet as utterly as they sacrifice their own free will, they are no fonder of obedience than anyone else. They submit, it is true, to the whims of a clerk, but no sooner is force removed than they are glad to defy the law as a defeated enemy. Thus one finds them ever wavering between servitude and license.

When a nation has reached this point, it must either change its laws and mores or perish, for the well of public virtue has run dry: in such a place one no longer finds citizens but only subjects.”

“It is indeed difficult to imagine how men who have entirely renounced the habit of managing their own affairs could be successful in choosing those who ought to lead them. It is impossible to believe that a liberal, energetic, and wise government can ever emerge from the ballots of a nation of servants.”

“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.”

“Nothing is more wonderful than the art of being free, but nothing is harder to learn how to use than freedom.”

RR BS, OK I will address Fascism stupid as this is.
From Wikipedia, Fascism, is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism, characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and control of industry and commerce.  Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties.

Washington Post article is revealing "This is how fascism comes to America." https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/this-is-how-fascism-comes-to-america/2016/05/17/c4e32c58-1c47-11e6-8c7b-6931e66333e7_story.html

* Trump phenomenon has nothing to do with policy or ideology.  But Fascism is an Ideology and a policy. got that one wrong

* Trump’s support stems from economic stagnation or dislocation. Trump offers his followers are not economic remedies.   The economy under Obama was a malaise like Carter.  Both Trump and Reagan ran on Making America Great Again.  And both have followed similar paths in achieving that with similar results.  More confidence by businesses and increasing GDP and increasing employment.

Obama is characterized as economic stagnation since he is historically the only president in modern times not to raise GDP above 3.5% in 8 years, that is stagnation, malaise.

Not economic remedies.  Cutting regulations that Obama's Pen and Phone put in place is a remedy.  Got that one wrong also

* They provoke and play on feelings of resentment and disdain, intermingled with bits of fear, hatred and anger. His public discourse consists of attacking or ridiculing a wide range of “others”.  This is contrary to the goals of Fascism.  Alienates people making it harder to develop mobilization of society under one party.  Post forgot what Fascism is, wrong again.

*Trump tapps into the popular passions unleashed, the “mobocracy.”  So Soros organization that Hillary donated $8M to to pay Antifa to create public unrest and violence is not "mobocracy."  The protest by "black Lift Matter" against Trump is not "mobocracy."  The marches around the country days after Trump's inauguration calling for in some cases the death of Trump is not "mobocracy."   We are not blind or stupid,  RR Bull Shit.

* This phenomenon has arisen in other democratic and quasi-democratic countries over the past century, and it has generally been called “fascism.”  Facts count in the last 85 yrs since the election of FDR Democrats have controlled at least the White House, House of Representatives, and/or Senate all but 4 years and now add Trump's ~1 year.  So full control for the GOP is ~ 5 years vs 32 years for Democrats.   The Washington Post has to be talking about what the Democratic Party has Created.  Got that one wrong also

To understand how such movements take over a democracy, one only has to watch the Republican Party today.  Again the Post has to be talking about the party in power for most of the last 85 years, the Democratic Party.  Got that one wrong

* A great number will simply kid themselves, refusing to admit that something very different from the usual politics is afoot.  The screen that separates the Wizard of Oz from the people has fallen down and we see what was behind the screen.   Al Frankin, Bill Clinton with his pant down, Hillary Clinton beating on women.  George Soros with his and Hillary's money purchasing Antifa.  The media fake news. Washington Post Fake Opinion.  All Wrong

Thomas:  Are you living under a rock somewhere?

Trump retweeted three videos posted by a Fascist British organisation.  When challenged on it by the British Prime Minister (Theresa May), he was effectively given a chance to say "sorry I made a mistake there".

But he didn't, he stood behind his actions(and insulted the British PM into the bargain.

So his open support for fascism is not a matter of opinion... it is a matter of fact as recorded on his own Twitter account.
Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 4, 2017 - 6:28pm
BTW Here in the UK we have had some experience in battling fascism.   We stood up to them in 1939, 2 years before the USA was forced into the war.   We also battled fascism in our own country.

It's tactics are:

1.  Mobilise the dissatisfied in society by adopting a strident, charismatic, speaking style.   They respond well to that... never mind the facts... bamboozle them with lies... just as long as it is what they want to hear.  Promote a personality cult... not the party but the Fuhrer... and his every growing ego.
2.  Tell them that you can "make the country great again".   Carry out some actions which in the short term seem to benefityoru followers but long term bugger up the country.
3.  Pick on some minority (choose from Jews, Communists, Muslims, Catholics etc etc) and blame them for just about everything.
4.  When you actually make it into power, and it all goes pear shaped through your inability to empathise and work with others, try and keep the show rolling by picking fights with other countries...
5.  Tell your followers to fight to the last man and the last bullet

Try reading Kershaw's excellent two part history on Adolf H... Hubris and Nemesis.   You will find it very enlightening.

RRBS so what does tweeting and attaching video have to do with Trump in your opinion being a Fascist?  He thought they were Muslims?  ISIS and Fascism what is the connection?  Your throwing things out with out explanation.

Trump insulting Prim May what does that have to do with Fascism?

RRBS that 5 item list describes the Democratic Party and Obama and Hillary.  Which means Democrats are your Fascist.

The party of Slavery is a Fascist party, The party of Jefferson, and the founder of the Democratic party in many eyes Jackson, a slave owner.  Hitler use projection to blame his opponents.  So those that project blame are usually deserving of the blame.
Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 5, 2017 - 8:35am
Are you saying that Trump though that Britain First was a Muslim organisation rather than a Fascist group?  God  alone knows what goes on in that thing he calls his mind...

Britain First has a long history of incitement to violence and espousing Fascist values.   Arguably one of its supporters was responsible for the murder of MP Jo Cox.

Trump is retweeting propaganda generated by a fascist organisation; designed to cause unrest and potentially inciting violence.   Probably, as a result of his actions, there are people in Britain getting beaten up because of his actions... someone may even get killed.   Thank God we don't have so many nutters running round with guns as there are in the USA or the damage could be much worse.

The only question with Trump is what caused him to do it.  It can only be:

1.  He wants to get self publicity by doing deliberately controversial things with no thought or care for the damage he might be doing to other people.
2.  He genuinely made a mistake with his tweet and his massive ego would not allow him to admit that fact to himself or anyone else (Hitler was like this BTW)
3.  He really does want to promote Fascist agenda because he believes Hitler was right...
4.  He is unbelievably stupid
5.  Some combination of the above

Insulting May merely showed what an ignorant pig he is... it has nothing necessarily to do with being a Fascist supporter.   The point his that he did not take the opportunity to backtrack when she pointed out what he had done.
Thomas Sutrina Added Dec 5, 2017 - 12:37pm
Trump retweeted the videos and it appears did not know the source.  I agree that "Trump is retweeting propaganda."  But your assumptions is wrong.  I would choose the first two and them both.

Again your putting out RR Bull Shit, "Probably, as a result of his actions, there are people in Britain getting beaten up because of his actions... someone may even get killed. "  Prove it!

Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 5, 2017 - 1:56pm
You said yourself, Trump is retweeting propaganda.   He was called on it and did not say "sorry I made a mistake".   By so doing he has boosted support for a fascist organisation.   Of course I can't prove that particular people have actually been hurt or killed because of it... hence the "probable" in my statement.

Are you saying that his actions, is so supporting Fascism were right then Thomas?   Is that your position.   You don't want to criticise him because you actually agree with the Fascist viewpoint?

Don't be shy.  If you are  Fascist, just say so.
Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 5, 2017 - 2:05pm
By the way, I believe ISIS also send out false videos showing (in their case people being killed by US drone strikes etc) as part of their propaganda.   This is detestable behaviour but very effective as we can see from the number of recruits that they have managed to bring on board.

ISIS does it to incentivise people to come over to their cause and commit acts of violence.  They want to convince people that the West is the great Satan.

Britain First does it because they want to convince people that foreigners and Muslims are the enemy.  Hitler did something similar using Jews, Gypsies and Bolsheviks as the bogeymen to achieve his political purposes.

Trump is effectively aiding and abetting these extremists trying to spread hate, division and ultimately violence.   I think someone once declared a war on that type of behaviour didn't they?   What was it called now?

By the way, some of the policies he follows, IMHO, actually help ISIS to recruit more followers because of the way he seems to be trying to demonise Muslims of all types.
Thomas Sutrina Added Dec 5, 2017 - 3:38pm
RRBS you first have not proved that the group is fascist and second have not proved Trump knew anything about the group, unless proven otherwise we can only believe what he said, poor as that maybe.

The history presented in [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain_First] does not suggest in mets the definition also from wikipedia of a fascist group.  In other words your spinning  RR Bull Shit again.

What you are talking about is the (terrorist organization of Islam) Hamas government in Gaza putting rocket launchers in school yard etc. and then filming the destruction and killing of the people not allowed to leave their home or school etc..  ISIS has no idea where the drown will attack so can not set the stage.  News footage can be found I am not going to waist our time since their are years of applying this tactic in Gaza.

Please back this statement up with proof before 1932, "Britain First does it because they want to convince people that foreigners and Muslims are the enemy. "  Since they are the first then it has be before Hitler.

Trump is providing a focal point for terrorist like some members of  Black Lives Matters and all of Antifa.  How that makes him, "Trump is effectively aiding and abetting these extremists trying to spread hate." the cause is beyond my understanding.  Enlighten us and provide the source so that we to can find your quote from that source.

Thomas you really don't get it do you.  The Orange Baboon is threatening all that was good about America... bigly.  Whilst he does this you want to argue about semantics.   Whether or not this group complies with someone's definition of fascism, they certainly are guilty of trying to spread hate and intolerance a la ISIS using fake or manipulated stories

The office of the President of the United States carries a massive responsibility.   His opinions, when stated, carry far more weight than the opinions of any other person on the planet.   Many assume that his opinions are the official policy of the USA

With that power goes a great responsibility.

But he is not acting responsibly is he?   He is acting more like a five year old.   A five year old that doesn't just have an assault rifle to play with ... he has a nuclear trigger.

In the middle of the night he probably surfing Twitter looking for tweets that agree with his own prejudices.  Instead of stopping for a minute, and considering his position and his responsibilities to the the American people (and the planet generally), he just fires off whatever half arsed thought has occurred to him.  Then, because of a massive ego (which he keeps needing to stroke with rallies of his followers...), he is unable to back down from whatever stupid thing he has just said or re-tweeted.

I didn't want Trump but I was not given a choice after the media gave him ~50 times the air time then  any individual primary candidate and ~ 10 all the other candidates.   He was your bought and paid for GOP general election candidate.

Crooked Hillary was not an option to me and much of the country.  My very strong Democratic voting Mother-In-Law stopped asking me about why I was voting for Trump when I said I can not vote for a crook.  The evidence that Hillary and Bill were crooks was obvious even to a Hillary supporter.   The issue was whether that was important or not.

Jeff M. you of little faith.  Since 1949 the palestinians have called for pushing Jews and Christians into the sea.  All the land is theirs.

However, palestinians is a fabrication of those that lost the first war to Israel.  They were homeless and Israel let them return.  International law from time immemorial, the winner of a war owns the land and can push out those that were on it.  The Babylon did this in ~ 520 BC and a century later let them return.  The Romans shortly after Christ again defeated the Jews and force them to scatter.  They returned over the centuries.  Now one questions that the land Israel won war after war is theirs, all of it, that settled by international law and even the UN can not change that.

The palestinians have refuse to bargain in good faith.  They want the whole pie.  Trump as a person with decades of bargaining knows that you take away trading points to get the attention of those that think they just need to wait the opponent out.   As the pie is slowly is eaten the are less secure in their position.   It is about time for the US to start consuming that pie.   My guess that the council already built that is bigger then the US embassy in Tel Aviv will become the embassy after the 2018 election.
Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 6, 2017 - 6:44pm
The very thought of Trump, who has all of the subtlety of a rhino in a china shop, getting involved in a Middle East peace process makes me shudder.   His opening move, in denying the Palestinians their hopes of having part of Jerusalem (which don't forget contains sites which are Holy to Islam, Judaism and Christianity, is essentially sticking two fingers up to the Muslim world and all of those who have so far worked in good faith on the peace process.   Even the Pope told Trump not to do it.

This guy is destroying all about America which is worth defending or could be said to "make the country great" IMHO

But he definitely has hypnotised old Thomas here.  He has swallowed it all... hook, line and sinker....

You think that the Palestinians could become less secure?  When the Israelis bomb them to bits every few years as it is?

One thing that the Northern Ireland experience has demonstrated about terrorism is that you cannot defeat it militarily.   Attempting to do so merely causes more death and destruction... building more recruits for the very organisation you seek to destroy.  Eventually, as in Northern Ireland, you have to talk to the terrorists / freedom fighters (the name depends on your POV) and address some of the issues that they have.

Talk talk is always better than war war.   Trump has yet to learn that lesson.

But his action has just made America (and a lot of other places) less safe.
Thomas Sutrina Added Dec 6, 2017 - 8:37pm
Jeff M. again you ignoring history.  "The very thought of [Carter], who has all of the subtlety of a rhino in a china shop, getting involved in a Middle East peace process makes me shudder," is far more accurate statement.    I would add that every president except Reagan have been a rhino in that china shop.  Reagan not Carter has been the only president to accomplish anything.

Carter's, "opening move", was to give,  "the Palestinians their hopes of having part of Jerusalem," that they lost by thinking force would drive the Jews' into the sea.    Now that is when the problems really started.

Almost all of those that are telling Trump is making an error have been in power longer and have achieved nothing.  They are not acting as mediators and those that came before them that were involved failed.   Maybe after 50 years of failure it is time to let a person that has bargained for a living try.  Failure is the standard since that is the the results again accept for Reagan.

Now this is selective history and shows your bias, "You think that the Palestinians could become less secure?  When the Israelis bomb them to bits every few years as it is?"  So let see the suicide bombers were Jews.  The tunnels that cross the border were dug form the Israel.  The rocket launchers were in Israel and hitting the Gaza Strip.    Jeffy boy  your full of shit.
Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 7, 2017 - 4:30am
Well Thomas, Trump is certainly achieving something... a ratcheting up of hate for America in many parts of the world.

Today many young Muslims, by those who would manipulate them, are being told that America, the great Satan, has shown direct and unequivocal support for the people who they view as their enemy... the ones who they see as periodically bombing an oppressed and captive group... the Palestinians.

Now you may argue from a particular POV that the Orange Baboon, your President, is right. You may argue that the Israelis are right (I don't think that they are, but that is my opinion) to periodically engage in activity which kills a couple of thousand men, women and children.  However you cannot argue that what he has done has not helped the cause of ISIS and others like them.  That is a cast iron, non fake, fact.

Your President is like a dangerous toddler.  He is playing to his domestic, under-educated, gallery.  He does not seem to care what damage his does in the world, or even in America, as long as it helps his approval ratings.

May God help us.

This thread, like many here, has depressed me with its mean spirit.   So, here is a song to raise our hearts.  It's written about England, but could easily be the USA:

Many miles I have wandered, on the paths of my homeland
By rivers, through woodland, and by the sea side
On streets I have seen those with greed and hate in their eyes

And those with their hearts and their hands open wide
All my life has been blessed by its thunderstorm summer times
By misty gold autumns, by fires in the snow
By Rainbows, by bluebells, by radiant spring times
In the wild windy meadows, where the dandelions blow

There are some who would change this fair home to a prison
To enslave the many, and bow to the few
The robbers, the racists, the breakers of faces
Who hide behind masks and the red white and blue
So stand up, come on England, live up to your history
Your heart can't be held in a flag or a crown
Raise your tea cups and glasses, you bold lads and lasses
And drink to the spirit that will never lie down

I hear Trump says that he is the only one who can bring peace to the Middle East.   Maybe he is planning to also recognise Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital?   Of course he would have to recognise Palestine as a state... but then that is reality too isn't it?

What do you think Thomas?   That would show even handedness wouldn't it?   Might save a few lives don't you think?

Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 8, 2017 - 4:09am
So then Thomas, you are saying that Trumps position is to favour a Darwinian approach to politics.  Israel shall have Jerusalem because it has a stronger military?   It is stronger and better adapted for survival than the weak, impoverished Palestinians huddling nearby and therefore deserves to prosper whilst the Palestinians wither and die?

Hitler said something similar as his justification for persecuting the Jews I believe.

RRBS suggest you read a little more history.  The American Indians do not own the land.  They lost the wars.   Cuba is not controlled by the natives of the previous government but by the Communists.   Russia is not in the hands of the this line that ended with Nicholas II.
Robin the red breasted songster Added Dec 8, 2017 - 10:16am
So you are saying that might is right then! That is my interpretation of what you are saying.    That anything which happened in the past, by the very fact of it having happened, is now right and dandy.

The European arrived in North America, and because they had superior firepower, deserved to have  to dispossessed the natives?

I guess then, that you admire the British Empire and how, through greater might, it was able to conquer a quarter of the globe?

It is down to Britain that the state of Israel was established where it was... not to the strength of the Jewish diaspora that came together to form it.   So, according to your own "might is right" principle, it should never have come into existence.

Should not the state of Israel, therefore, according to your stated principles, be dissolved and returned to the natives who, without outside intervention, would easily have prevented its formation?

I strongly disagree with your stance and find it morally repugnant.

Thomas Sutrina Added Dec 8, 2017 - 11:36am

Clear statement that is in the Old Testament and I would bet in every other religion or major nation.  YOU CONTROL THE LAND YOU CONQUER.   That is it RRBS simple and to the point.  Want to flatten a city you can do that.  Want to enslave the people or kill them you can do that.  Want to build a city you can do that.  When you control the land.  History is not about morals.  When the last big comet killed of the dinosaurs morals had nothing to do with it.
