Dark light
there seems no bright
Blinders are down
a constant fight

Hey where it's from
too much fell down
on little head
I feel like dead

I seem to pack
world's misery
on my small shoulders
and do not see

that all what happens
just seems to grow
not me controlling
a constant flow

of darker feelings
as if it's me
who does create it
hey, could it be

I do not notice
that I am here
'cos other's problems
make me disappear

That way I cannot
help them get out
of mental struggle
'cos I'm about

To be united
in their cold world
Though I don't want to
but I have heard

So I write a song
sing it to her
in hope she's seeing
that I do care

I see her smiling
humming the sound
and realize
she may have found

a piece of life
some new-born hope
climb out of darkness
do use that rope !

For a friend who suffers from depression. Have a nice year all :-)

Stone-Eater: I (think I) understand.
I was going to post here (the first part of) a poem I wrote in the same metre back in 2001. In fact, on the very day of 9/11. But I don't want to risk upstaging you, so I'll make it a separate article.
I hope you can help your friend out of depression. I see no point at all in being depressed. If we won't try, how can we possibly succeed?
...And enjoy your time in Senegal.

Stone - I dig it. We all need a friend to dangle a rope from time to time but when you're in the bottom of a big dark hole a life-line is the difference between life and death. Let's hope that we all have the strength to grab that rope when it's dangled.

Thanks guys. I posted that as a reply to a friend in FB and then thought I might post it here too. We never know how many people, even here, might suffer of depression.
And who could blame them, when we see the state our world is in ?
Depressive people are people who THINK. Stupid idiots never get a depression. That much I know.

Stone - people who live in a fantasy world where everything is black and white and OK, who live in their own perfect bubble, don't get depressed. You're right. It's people who care who get depressed.

I had a depression myself, I know. But guess what took me out of it ? Not a psychiatrist - Africa. The people, their optimism and their "chaleur humaine" :-)
