The people won't put up with cannabis prohibition any longer

25 percent of your neighbors probably smoke cannabis at least once a week already. But they obviously won't tell you. And anyone with a Canadian address can already order "illegal" cannabis anytime they wany. America is like Iran compared to Canada when it comes to cannabis. Plus do you realize how many US states alteady have recreational cannabis, and how many will next year? And that anyone in CA can get a medical card any time they want?

California's recreational cannabis legalization is going to end US prohibition. Sure the southern states won't want to change, but fact of the matter is, cannabis use is widespread and common in every state. Recreational cannabis has been freely available to every adult in Canada for a long time. Makes the US look like a prison state. Well, of course the US is the world's top prison state. But with CA legalization, the people won't put up with cannabis prohibition any longer. And that will be good for everyone. Because prohibition simply doesn't work. And cannabis is a non-toxic edible plant that people have cultivated for 10,000 years. Don't tell people they can't grow cannabis. They'll just grow more and smoke more.

Legalization of pot isn't about legalization of pot. Everything must be made permissable. First its abortion, then its gambling, now its pot, tomorrow it will be underage prostitution.
Crime requires cash. To eliminate cash, crime must be eliminated.
Eliminate cash and you eliminate rights. The law may protect you but if you have no money and no way to eat you will compromise and never see the inside of a court room.
Nothing is about what it seems to be about. Nothing is as it seems.

Byron D,
Criminalizing marijuana, or any drug, is a control tactic by governments, and it raises the black market price, sends the practice underground, and pits governments against their people in a most unhealthy way.  Some people think Prohibition gave rise to organized crime, because bootlegging was so profitable.
I believe the move by so many states to legalize marijuana will become a states' rights issue, since it contradicts federal law.  Our attorney general, Jeff Sessions, may try to force the issue, and I sincerely hope he tries.  Like you, I believe he would lose, and this would give the states incentive to challenge the federal government in other areas, too.

There is definitely something out of whack with the way cannabis and hemp products have been denied to the people.
the ultimate conspiracy theories are all true with this one.
Prime example of the type of control by the big business interests, that we have to keep exposing.

It's all about money.
The alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceutical, and private prison industries continue to fight moves to legalize cannabis to protect their profits.
Just recently, cannabis sales exceeded the sale of alcohol in Aspen, Colorado.

I disagree about what people will put up with. How many decades did they put up with 55 mph? Most DUHmericans put up with a great deal of abuse from the feds. Many even revel in it.

Forget it Byron. There is no cause célèbre here. Those who use pot have proven they are unstoppable, the same as alcohol users, with the same results.
At least 75% (my estimate) will use marijuana responsibly, and 25% will let it destroy their lives. The same as alcohol.
Just as with prohibition, the war on drugs was a failure. You can't stop 75% of the population from doing what they think is their right, to protect 25% of weak minded addicts, who destroy their lives and those of their loved ones.
Alcohol continues to ruin lives, and now pot has been added.   Amsterdam was forced to limit pot use because of social problems such as theft.
Many professions still reject heavy pot users, and often crime is the only alternative.
Alchohol had W.C. Fields and Jackie Gleason to champion their cause, And pot has Cheech and Chong.
You have KO, and Bill H!

I dont like weed, I never have. ITs expensive and it makes me sleep.  Although now, with Epilepsy..I can get it legally. Whoop te do da.
Pass for now..
I know its better than alcohol by far, and you do not have to smoke it so you dont need to hurt your lungs.  But you can screw up you life just like any other drug.
But if people want it...regulate it to death, it will be expensive for a time, and people will pay for it.  It is a way to get out of debt.

Canada must have some very long summer days.  How is the growing season?  I have seen giant vegetables grown in Alaska.
Traditionally, the best marijuana in the Americas came from Colombia, which is close to the equator.  But I have seen cannabis grown in Oregon which is superior to anything grown in California.
What do you think?  Early spring and a long season in the Mediterranean and tropical latitudes or the long summer days of the frozen north?  Which one grows the better herb?
