AN AMERICAN

My Recent Posts

I live in Thailand by choice, because my country, The United States of America, has become infected with self loathing, and no longer offers the variety of life and freedom for me, it once did.

The beach town that I live in, attracts tourists from around the world. The Thai people who come here to work, largely come from rural communities, to work in the service industry. They call us Farang, which means foreigner; but when they get over their shyness, a question comes up, as they see White Americans who look German, or Black Americans they call Chocolate man, or Americans who look Chinese, or Latin looking Americans. Once a Navajo American Marine who looked Filipino came to the bar, and this really put them in a spin.

So they ask, What is an American?”

The only answer I have is “We all come from people who came to a new world, to find a better life! We are the world

I know that is not an adequate answer, but if I recite the Gettysburg Address, they wouldn't understand.

Telling them about The Bill of Rights, doesn't help much. How can a Government limit themselves, they would ask. Can't a government change the rules anytime it wants? In Thailand, the Army just took over. In America, we constantly argue over what is a Right, and courts constantly re interpret what the founders meant. What was meant to regulate commerce between independent states, now regulates Civil Rights for individuals.

But their questioning raises some deep questions in my mind, and to find an answer, I liken being an American to being part of a larger BODY, a Giant organism that functions best when all parts are healthy. America is a living entity, always growing, always changing. The most dynamic country on this earth! The population are it's Cells, and its institutions/groups function as organs.

UNCLE SAM, IS A PERSON!

The BRAIN of America, is also called Grey Matter, that's right, consisting of all colors, or no color, take your choice. All different, convoluted, sectors that when they work in unison create ideas that improve life for all, but when they are in conflict, create madness. Competing brain sectors create headaches that become migraines and can cause us to self destruct, or make stupid statements like “Black lives Matter.”.

Notice, that the brain has no sexuality as it functions. There are no male or female ideas! It is above that in its function. But it determines what our function is, in matters of gender., and determines what we are attracted to for sexual gratification.

Those who think with their crotch, deny the brain a chance to understand the quality of all sexes. We as a people are denied the beauty of a woman or the strength of a man.

Instead of trying to help the misfits function in society, many want to change society , to the vision of the misfits.

The HEART provides life to all. It keeps the blood of well being, flowing to all cells and organs. When one part is denied adequate blood, it can become gangrenous and destroy the entire body. Just as all parts of our body must be exercised and nourished, all members of society must be given the opportunity to reach potential or they will atrophy and die, poisoning the body, as they go. Mutual RESPECT is the heart of American Society.

The LUNGS provide the oxygen that is the energy or vitality of commerce, that keeps all parts functioning. But they must work in unison. If the Left lung breaths in, while the Right lung breaths out, the entire body is denied what it needs to survive! The lunngs are the social movements known as Liberals and Conservatives.

When the Left wing, and the Right wing are flapping at different times, the American Eagle loses height, and eventually crashes.

The LEGS provide movement . America spans the globe. They connect us with other bodies of people and offer opportunity to explore and improve our environment. How dull would our lives be without the spices of the Middle East, the Art and Culture of Europe, the Music and athletics of Africa, the tropical fruits of Latin America, “Yes we have no Banana's”, or coffee, the gentle culture of Asia. Silk. We still don't understand why Acupuncture works. The wisdom of Gandhi.

This clash of IDEAS strengthens and fine tunes all of our ideas, until each of us is better than the original.

The ARM's are the Military and the Government that can do great harm, or great good, depending if they offer a hand or a fist to our neighbors. That allows us to reach out to our brothers and lift them up, while gaining what we need, or steal what they have. In the past we have done both

So America is like a human body. Always changing. No part more important for survival than the other. When cells conflict, it is a cancer, like Democrats trying to defeat Republicans, the well being of the body is sacrificed so one can dominate the other. Compromise and respect for the individual is as healthy, as a balanced diet.

When we reject a transplanted organ,we may be destroying the very thing that can save us from a weakness, developed over time. Our ability to be self sufficient is in serious danger! To grow and be strong we must absorb what the world has to offer.

As a body of people, we can only survive with holistic medicine and care. Diet, exercise, and emotional well being are of equal importance. All of our cells matter, all of our organs are vital, even if we do not understand their function , like the appendix.

AMERICA IS THE BEST OF THE WORLD IN ONE PLACE.

This is a repeat of an article I wrote last year. MEFOBILLS commented on another article I wrote:
A country is not a country unless it has borders, language and culture.  It also has tradition and history that ties generations.  A nation is broken and becomes undone with high immigration of unlike peoples, people who have different traditions.

Since that is a common belief today, I thought a look at what is America was in order.

Many languages are spoken, or historically have been spoken, in the United States. Today over 500 languages are used by the U.S. population. The most commonly used language is English (specifically, American English), which is the de facto national language of the United States. Since the 1965 Immigration Act, Spanish is the second most common language in the country. The United States does not have an official language, but some state governments recognize specific languages. For instance, the state government of Louisiana offers services and documents in French, as does New Mexico in Spanish. There are many languages indigenous to North America or to U.S. states or holdings in the Pacific region. Hawaiian, although having few native speakers, is an official language along with English of the state of Hawaii. Alaska officializes English and twenty native languages.

As of July 2016[update], White Americans are the racial majority. African Americans are the largest racial minority, amounting to an estimated 12.7% of the population. Hispanic and Latino Americans amount to an estimated 17.8% of the total U.S. population, making up the largest ethnic minority.[8] The White, non-Hispanic or Latino population make up 61.3% of the nation's total, with the total White population (including White Hispanics and Latinos) being 76.9%.[9]

Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander: those having origins in any of the original peoples of Polynesia, Melanesia, or Micronesia.
Middle Eastern American: Following consultations with MENA organizations, the Census Bureau announced in 2014 that it would establish a new MENA ethnic category for populations from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arab world.[16]

I just wanted to highlight the complexity of the issue. People talk about borders as if they are a clearly defined line on a map. In fact USA's borders span the globe! If you consider Embassy's as American territory, you compound the problem.
There is no freakin' way you can define American Borders, much less secure them!

Nice article Expat,  (not been able to log in for a period with may Windows machine in USA, Illinois)  First of all the brains of men and women just like their bodies are slightly different to meet the needs of survival of the species.  Women by nature multitask and do not understand male box tasking, with a NOTHING BOX.  Women can not imagine NOTHING.  This is function differences of the task mammal female and males have in their societies, multitasking is better for dealing with off spring needs and focus is better to defend and hunt for food for the family or larger community.  As far as I know this is the only gender mind differences.  The physical issues also seem are for the two tasks mentioned above for all mammals.

How to explain America to a person not raised in a similar culture.  I would go to the basics:  you exist at the consent of the government.  They are in an analogy to a family are the parents and you are the child.    They can choose to hear you and act according to hearing your, or they can choose to act for the reasons of the parent.  This included up to being the decider of life and death.

America doesn't always succeed.  Governments tend to always think they are the parent.  But in America the goal is for the people to be heard and actually be the leaders of the government.  Consent of the governed, and the way that comes about is that the leaders have to come from the people below the government.  The result of an election, choose by their larger community, and he in office for a short time, 2 year, 4 year, and 6 year between elections.   In the history of America for the first Century the average representative spent to election terms in office.

Our failure is that the term of an elected official has extended for too many elections period where they now believe they are the parent.  And those that elect them can be given trinkets to keep electing them, the parent.

I agree that in THEORY the US would be an example of a society where all nations would be welcome and treated as equal with same rights.

But the reality is different, and the system of a republic does not comply with a real democracy. As long as the US is ruled by a ruthless gang of lobbyists, the Pentagon and the arms industry, it isn't credible. Once the US really starts to be a partner of the world and stops trying to establish an empire by fear and weaponry, it will be a model for the world as it was decades ago. The US (NOT "America", once again) should act responsible when it wants to keep a leading role. Weapons are one thing, intellect and diplomacy another.....

Expat,
Why do you think America became self loathing?  Do you think it was an accident.  Things usually don't happen in a vacuum.

By the late 1800 America had turned toward Oligarchy.  By 1913, the Republic was undone.  Post WW2 it had become "international" and its money had become banking credit for the world.

In the 1960's all of america's institutions came under attack, and most crucially the 1965 immigration act was passed by the ((usual)) suspects.

This then changed the demographics.

A nation can be a tribe of people that have no borders, for example the Kurds.  A nation can be codified as a State, for example Italy.

Italy in the 60's had very high unemployment, but did not have social revolution.  Why?  They saw themselves as one people, and there were strong family ties.  Kids moved home with their parents and they pooled resources.

If nation were a board game, to win you would do these things:  1) Single race to the extent possible, to thus have your neighbors be viewed as kin.  This then allows redistribution of economic surplus without social friction.  2) Borders to define the nation state, so it is a fixed place in the imagination.  3) Single language to prevent "tower of babel" problems.  Low social friction requires good communication. 4) History and Legend.  People groups that are tied to their land and have history that goes back a long way are rooted.  This then provides stability.

Oligarchs want low wage immigration for multiple reasons:  1) To take the life energy of the immigrant.  2) To lower labor costs so their "capital" has more value.  3) To break institutions so nobody "looks" at their thefts.  4) To divide and conquer

A divided population is easy to dupe and keep running around in circles.  Finance Oligarchy also likes to export jobs to then take wage arbitrage.  Witness the recent job losses to China, as Wall Street moved jobs for to take arbitrage.

The united states is probably headed for a crack-up.  You cannot have too many disparate groups "fighting" for the same pie.  Finance Oligarchs who use invade the world, invite the world (mass immigration) strategy are busy trying to create de-racinated populations disconnected from history and institutions - this so they can take usury and life energy from their subjects.

People that go along with mass-immigration, as if it is an unmitigated good, are not looking at reality or history square in the face.

I am an American. And I am a proud member of the Blackfoot Nation. I am an American because my blood is rooted in this land. My blood was nearly extinguished, but instead enhanced by a tribe of Welshmen. I could have plenty to whine about. I could be angry and cry about all of the injustice, but I am here. I live and breath and my blood lives on.
To be an American is to understand liberty. We may not be the best practitioners at all times, but to be an American you have to at least understand it. Being an American is having the opportunity to understand liberty in ways that most people in the rest of the world will never be able to experience

Expat, interesting article.

Quite a while ago, traveling in the Soviet Union in the 1980s, I first learned that the people of a place, and the government of a place do not necessarily resemble each other.  The people of the Soviet Union resembled not in the slightest the government of the Soviet Union. Today while I live in the USA, I resemble not the slightest the government of the USA.   I think the same is true of most people here.  Fortunately when I travel people treat me as a person, rather than a representative of our government.

By the way.  People from Latin America, ALSO consider themselves American, as American to them means residents of South America.  Just FYI not that it matters.

We all have to make things work where we can.   We should not make a mistake and think we live in a fair world or a fair country.  Instead we need to find a place, and a way of life that fits us best.  Or to paraphrase Fred Neil, go where the weather suits our clothes.

SE,
But the reality is different, and the system of a republic does not comply with a real democracy

The founding fathers considered democracy to be one of the worst types of government - essentially mob rule.

The republic was usurped and a democracy installed.   The republic was undone especially by 1913 and installation of progressive era acts.

Democracies are easy to manipulate with money powered special interests.  These interests purposefully planned to usurp the republic over a long stretch of time.

Spreading democracy narrative is used as cover and shield to spread predatory finance capitalism.

Thomas Sutrina. I appreciate your position, but differ greatly with your view of the world. First and foremost is your categorization of Men and Women.
People do not differ slightly, the differences are so extreme, that men and women sometimes exchange characteristics. I don't want to turn this into a gender discussion, but I have known men who are women in every respect, except for genitalia, and I have known women who are men in every respect.
To me that is GOD's greatest miracle; the variety of life!

I do not exist at the consent of government, as you say! The fact is I gave the government the Middle Finger, cashed out of America, and live the lifestyle of my choice.

My Academic training was in Political Science. I am versed in the techniques of inducing the behavior needed to win elections. It has nothing to do with free will. The will of the people is manufactured!

You, yourself describe conditions in Africa, that the world needs to hang their head in shame for tolerating. While Elon Musk spends billions on a suicide mission to Mars, billions have nothing to eat!

Your delusion about Lobbyists and the MIC prevents you from seeing issues clearly. That can be another article.

"Why do you think America became self loathing?"
As a society, America became great by INDIVIDUALS having the freedom and desire to build a great life and nation. The people who came here only asked for the opportunity to use their talents.
Millions of stories of people going from selling from a push cart, to buying a small shop, to owning a Department store.

But that drive to succeed was not passed on to their progeny! Succeeding generations  came to believe the wealth passed on to them, was their right. They wanted to improve the society they lived in, but forgot the sacrifice their ancestors made. They wanted Utopia for all, without ALL contributing.

These children of privilege, entertained the delusion that they needed to be guilty for white privilege, as most of those who succeeded were white. They further denied genius, thinking all people are the same. They wanted to tell others how to live, and of course FAILED!
So in their failure to change what is, they became delusional, and distorted life to suit their belief of how things should be! And of course failed.

Faced with their failure to accomplish their goals, made them feel like failures; this turned to Self Loathing!

They put on silly pink hats, or wave even sillier signs for change, without understanding their delusion.
They are supported by GOOGLE, and dozens of smart phone sycophants.

The best government can do, is to keep them from destroying, that which they wish to change.

By the way, people from Latin America DO NOT consider themselves Americans! Brazilians even resent being called Latin Americans.

These children of privilege, entertained the delusion that they needed to be guilty for white privilege, as most of those who succeeded were white.

So where did this self loathing come from.  This delusion that to be white is some sort of privilege, despite earning it through genius, invention and hard work.  (For the most part - some of it was stolen.)

And please, it is not the children of privilege, it is mass hypnosis.  Look at the spectacle of masses of German's turning out for Merkel, despite her placing indigestible immigrants into the population.  This time bomb is placed into the German population to go off in the now and later.  Immigrants are sufficiently different, that they will not norm to becoming German, but will instead demand their own enclaves, and be a nation within a nation - a forever source of friction.

The self loathing of whites is  hypnosis promulgated by an owned media - which is intent on breaking down borders, language and culture.  De-racinating populations is to create an "international" man, which is good for the "international" tribe.  This international man bows to his new leadership, and becomes a good slave/worker in the factories.

We are indeed a nation that has accepted the best the world has had to offer and melted and molded these willing and pliable cells into the body.  Unfortunately, we’ve reached a point of self-loathing that the infected seek and import other cells into the body that they know will never integrate and function within the system.  So, the cancer has grown unchecked for decades (and still does to this day).

In desperation, many of us seek miracle cures, such as in my case amicable secession; seeking to cut off the infected limb to save the body.  Those who are part of the sickness will never be able to see this as attempt to save the heart, mind and spirit that is the United States.

Of course y'all are dead wrong on just about every important issue.

But it's the fabric of America that makes it work.  Where would labor be without capital?  Where would academia and the press be without the captains of industry?  Where would any of us be if we were a one-party nation?  What if we had six or seven political parties like Italy in the 1960s?  So many opposing forces have somehow worked together to bring us together safely this far.  It's like any other ecosystem.  Even by eliminating wolves and grizzly bears, the net effect on the rest of the system is a loss.  Ecology and balance make for a healthy world.

Yeah... as long as it's the RW and they don't bring any LW friends/family with you.  :)  Also... as long as they’re willing to assimilate into Texas society and culture. :)  We really need screeners at the border…

How do you do that!  It is a skill I never mastered and too old to even try now. :)

Why?  When organizations I believe in (the NRA for example, my faith for another) are attacked I just rebut what was said.  I may get a little frustrated and passionate in my replies... but angry.  There is nothing to be gained as you said.

FJ >> I know that the U.S.A. would never have become that which we are if it were not for the participation of every class and political stripe.  We are an amalgamation.  We are the strong alloy forged by fire.

Nice sentiment, but only partially true.  On class... right on.  BUT, certain political stripes are better than others, and certain political stripes are down-right destructive... always.  I'm not saying we need a nation of only conservatives... we (conservatives) do indeed need to be tempered from time to time.  BUT, again, we would be better off with the complete absence of certain political ideologies (past and present).

Do not go gentle into that good night
or perhaps (Ode to America)

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Sorry, but demographic data says that U.S. was 89% European white as of 1963.  The diverse traditions, customs, methods and innovation were predominantly of this ethnic group.  Ergo, the ethos was European and Christian.  Protestantism in turn is also Judeo-Christian, so the small amount of Jews were made to feel welcome.

NATO today is not the NATO of the 50's and 60's.  The politics of socialism has destroyed NATO.  Acceptance of the arch enemy of Europe for centuries, Islam, into the NATO and opening borders of the NATO nations to an invasion of Muslims, conclaves of a Muslim state withing their borders.  Turkey today is a Caliphate that has only one goal as Caliphates have had since the 700's, global Islam.  Those that are not Muslims are not equal to Muslims.  They are lesser humans that maybe killed at the whim of the Muslim state, and the justice system treats non Muslims as lesser humans with less rights.  We see this being played out on the streets of Europe especially and within Western nations which is actually saying socialist nations.  That also have excepted invadors of Islam.

You're right in some ways. Islam has become a problem in some European countries, but only because we allow it. And why do we allow it ? Because we have imported that shitty PC trend. The ONLY way for us here is to get rid of ANY religion officially and ban EVERY religious sign everywhere, and educate our kids to humanism.

I can't stand people of no matter which religion which use it for self-righteousness and self-confidence. Religion is for people which can't figure out how the world works for themselves. And it is used for economic purposes and control.

Stone, socialist governments politicians in Europe have the same problem that socialist in America.  They all want to "transform their nation" into a socialist state like the socialist government in Venezuelan is now struggling to complete.  They want a class society.  Cuba, China, Russia, etc. are examples of the end result of a 100% socialist nation, Communism is a subset of socialism with a means of achieving the end result different then other subsets.

These Democratic or Fabian Socialist have discovered the problem with welfare and healthcare as tools to purchase votes.  The voters always come to believe these payoffs are a right and not a payoff for their vote.  Healthcare seen in other nations set new standards which are opposite the approach of socialist health care.  Socialist health care is for the masses and to maintain cost those with special needs but few in number are expendable.   Other healthcare systems do not consider these groups expendable.

Open borders that let in people that do not understand elected government believe class societies is a human state.  Thus they will support the socialist politicians that promising placing them into a higher social class.
Thomas Sutrina Added Jun 1, 2018 - 12:06pm
Stone socialist do not believe in religion where God places limits on man.  They are the Gods of the nation.  Power is the only reason they opened the borders.  They see that Muslims from Caliphates do not understand elected government.  They accept class structure.  They see them as a tool to complete the "transformation" into a socialist state.  They believe once achieved they can use force to control Muslims and can use force to break their ties to Islam thus turning them into generic citizens.

Anybody with two digits of IQ can look at demographic data and see that the U.S was almost 90% white and european by 1960.

This then destroys any narrative of U.S. being of the "world."  The U.S. entire history is one of European influence, including its courts, laws, and legends.

Now that you have been called out, are calling me a racist.

The fact of the matter is that Europeans also include darker folks like southern italians.  So , it has nothing to do with pigment, but instead DOES HAVE to do with both race and culture.

The U.S. has allowed other races to immigrate post 1965.  So, any narrative about the U.S. being a world culture taking from everybody is bull shit up to 1965, and somewhat true after that.

American Culture: Traditions and Customs of the United States

By Kim Ann Zimmermann, Live Science Contributor | July 13, 2017 10:05pm ET

American culture encompasses the customs and traditions of the United States. "Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we sit at the table, how we greet visitors, how we behave with loved ones, and a million other things," said Cristina De Rossi, an anthropologist at Barnet and Southgate College in London.

The United States is the third largest country in the world with a population of more than 325 million, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. A child is born every 8 seconds, and a person dies every 12 seconds.

In addition to Native Americans who were already living on the continent, the population of the United States was built on immigration from other countries. Despite recent moves to close the U.S. borders to new immigrants and refugees, a new immigrant moves to the United States every 33 seconds, according to the Census Bureau.
Because of this, the United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Nearly every region of the world has influenced American culture, most notably the English who colonized the country beginning in the early 1600s. U.S. culture has also been shaped by the cultures of Native Americans, Latin Americans, Africans and Asians.
The United States is sometimes described as a "melting pot" in which different cultures have contributed their own distinct "flavors" to American culture. Just as cultures from around the world have influenced American culture, today American culture influences the world. The term Western culture often refers broadly to the cultures of the United States and Europe.

The Census Bureau estimates that more than 300 languages are spoken in the United States. The bureau divides those languages into four categories: Spanish; other Indo-European languages, which includes German, Yiddish, Swedish, French, Italian, Russian, Polish, Hindi, Punjabi, Greek and several others; Asian and Pacific Island languages, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Tamil and more; and "all other languages," which is a category for languages that didn't fit into the first three categories, such as Hungarian, Arabic, Hebrew, languages of Africa and languages of native people of North, Central and South America.

Your racial rant about Italians, just supports my statement that you are a bigot

First of all any anthropologist if they examined the skelton's of Italians would find they are caucasoids.   An anthropologist doesn't give a damn about skin color.  Skin color is NOT THE RACE.  OK!  Stop being a dumb ass.

The plain fact of the matter is that the U.S. was 90% caucasian of Northern European extraction up until the early 60's.  This is a fact that you cannot wish away.

Any "Mulitculturalism" was European, which in turn had a common thread, which is both racial similarity and a common religion ... Christianity.

Multiculturalism post 1965 immigration act is non europeans, and trust me - anthropologists can tell the race by skeleton.

The post 1965 immigrants do not integrate at the same rate as the Europeans.

A low trust culture is defined by Putnam in his book "Bowling Alone."  The very ability of America to integrate various Europeans is NOT THE SAME as integrating Muslims, African's, South Indians and so on, who come from vastly different cultures.

It is not just me saying these things, it is social scientists.

People are now fleeing the U.S. because it is rapidly becoming a low trust culture, as Putnam's data so clearly predicts.

People are tribal, and are now Bowling Alone, and losing their civic high trust mode.

Immigration needs to come to a full stop.  In 1926 the country had an immigration cut-off, and it needs to happen again.

A tower of Babel, high friction country is not what the founders had in mind.

Go back and look at population numbers.  This is logic failure of the first order.  People extrapolate today to the past and the future.

The fact of the matter, when Mexico won independence from Spain, there were few Mexican's in El-Norte.   The few that were there formed Pueblo's or small towns, in an attempt to pass Christianity and farming methods to Indians.

Most of the population were Indians.  The fact that there are spanish names has been conflated to Mexican, using bad logic.

I don't know what 17% means, but both you and SE are engaging is some low IQ shit, and I've called you on it.

It is well known that there was an immigration wave overland with wagons, and later when the train routes were built it accelerated.

Only after the advent of air conditioning did the Southwest become developed, prior to that it was sparsely populated.

The entire continent of North America was developed and built out by European and by now native negroes.   Chinese were used on the rail roads and most were sent back after being done due to exclusion laws.

If one wants to consider Spaniards as Europeans, which they are, then my points are only bolstered.
