SLOW DOWN....

My Recent Posts

I'm sitting here

all by myself

and am just wond'ring

what's on the shelf

'cos I look up

but don't see clear

do kind of fear

sight disappears

I mean get older

seems no big deal

but when you feel it

it becomes real

The train is coming

hey hurry up !

just get on running

but knees say stop !

When you get older

don't rush around

you've done your utmost

until you found

That keep'n it slow

might help a lot

to live 'bit longer

that's all that you've got :-)

Mark Hunter just inspired me to write that short one. Thanks Mark :-)

Great words, SEF!

yes no reason to rush anything..it all comes in time and happens the way it is supposed to any way.

Shit happens on its own timeline...excrement always occurs when it should.

How many days do you have left Stone?

Guys

Thanks :) And yep...Expat is right. Some places are better than others to do that :)

When one knew how many days he got left he'd go crazy...

Stone,
My thoughts exactly.  The time pressure habit is hard to break, especially in a clock-driven world.  I see a difference between "natural time," such as sun rise and sun set, and "clock-time," such as train schedules.

Retirement helps me see the difference.  When I leave my peaceful, natural-time world, and enter Humanland, the noise and rush-rush frenzy is exhausting.

I just sit aside, wonder, wait for the rush to finish in a  cafĂ© and then go home. I never use public transport on rush hour. Why ? I might get upset when some creep tries to walk over me even though his next train would be there in 10 minutes.

BTW: Once a guy in Zurich pushed me very hard. I gave him the fist and the problem began. At the cop station he just said sorry he stood in the way and I needed to get that train. I said listen buddy when something is important you don't take the last train.

Stone-Eater,
Clever poem!

I am seriously considering slowing down a bit, next year ; )

I sit
I wait
Sweat pours
Heat sears.

Room dark
Vision blurred
Memories clear
Hearing fades.

Shadows dance
Fear rises
Sudden knock
Piercing screams.

Curiosity strengthens
Open door
It's me
I cry.

Wow. Another version of the same.....but a bit more pessimistic I guess ;-)
Ric Wells Added Jun 22, 2018 - 8:48am
It's titles Sleepless. Forgot to put that in. Whether pessimistic or optimistic depended on the reading.

Well.....maybe my understanding of English has found its limits here. I think only

Curiosity strengthens
Open door
It's me
I cry.

has some slight optimistic undertone. I do wonder though .... does he cry because he is still happy to possess that curiosity which opens doors or does he cry because he realizes that due to his age that curiosity will come to a stop ?
Ric Wells Added Jun 22, 2018 - 9:15am
Depends on what you see when you open that door. Is it the unchanged you or the changed you of the future. You decide.
Stone-Eater Added Jun 22, 2018 - 10:56am
One has to imagine a future to be able to change. And at a certain age imagination dwindles ;-)
Ric Wells Added Jun 22, 2018 - 11:35am
Stone I respectfully disagree. I am 66 and my imagination soars as never before. One just has to open yourself to any and all possibilities.

Imagination doesn't pay daily needs. It's a matter of connections and luck as well.
Stone-Eater Added Jun 22, 2018 - 2:59pm
BTW: Not everybody on that planet has learned empathy. Otherwise the world would be different.
Stone-Eater Added Jun 22, 2018 - 3:03pm
I am you
And you are me
We are the same
Do you agree ?

If not you might
Not having learnt
To look 'bit further
Means a short sight.

This world we have
Is much too different
So please, hey people
Don't be INdifferent !

FUTURE UNCHECKED
Rancor raised
Sides divided
Unity awaits
Then cast aside.

History repeats
Silence roars
Drums beat
Deaths rhythmic march.

Earth raped
Sky torn
Water poisoned
Hope destroyed.

Spirits gone
Inquisition ablaze
The rack is back
To no ones amaze.

Green rules
But not of the plant
Blinded ones
Slavery's phoenix.

Bullets roar
Flesh torn
Fires ignite
Cities razed.

Music calms
The beast no more
Arts wondrous journey
Over a cliff.

What's done
No repair
Despair reigns
Humanity lost.

Indeed. Unless we change our DNA ;)

Stone,
Genes are always switching themselves on and off.  Little known fact.  Sounds like you fear your imagination gene has switched off.  You probably have more genes than you ever imagined.  Some say that relaxation is a great friend of creativity.

When you live in Switzerland imagination gets cut off automatically. That's why I just long for October when I can leave this damn place :))
Logical Man Added Jun 24, 2018 - 12:06pm
The thing about time is that you don't know how much you've got and you can't get any more.
Don't waste any.
I've said that to my kids since they were old enough to understand.

Ric Wells Added Jun 24, 2018 - 12:16pm
Stone I don't understand how a country can cut off individual imagination. You are an artist in musical terms has that been shut down since you went back to Switzerland or are we talking about 2 different things.

It's easy. I long to go back to Africa. When I'm in Switzerland I have the feeling I'm living in a cage. I really hope that this will be settled in October.
Stone-Eater Added Jun 25, 2018 - 5:13am
BTW: Switzerland is a place where every citizen is a policeman. Don't listen to loud music after 10pm ! Don't walk in forests with your dog without having him on a chain ! Don't talk loud in a train or bus ! Don't throw your cigarette butt on the floor or you'll be fined ! Don't drive a bycicle without helmet or......etc. etc. It does not end. And I fucking hate that.
