Why don't we take care of our own first?

My Recent Posts

I am a Catholic.  I went to Catholic school in San Francisco where I grew up.  I was also an Altar Boy and sang in the choir.  I enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17 in 1973 and served five years; currently living in California.  I look in the mirror every day and see a man who has seen his country deteriorate over the last 20 years, slowly being strangled by the far left and their socialist ideologies, allowing illegal immigrants to flow across our borders and test our welfare systems to the very breaking point!  I see a man who is witnessing historic corruption in the State Department, Department of Justice, CIA, NSA, the Federal Bureau of Investigation,  and probably others, possibly all the way up to the former President of the United States, obama!  I see a man that I respect who knows that others respect as well.  I see a man of integrity.  My mother emigrated from El Salvador and applied for U.S. Citizenship; Mom did it the right way and was so proud when she received her Naturalization Papers.  It took a long time and a lot of money but she did it before leaving my scoundrel father and moving us all to California back in the day.

When we use the word "Immigrant" we refer to those "tired, poor,  huddled masses yearning to breathe free” and when we use the words "illegal immigrants/aliens" we are referring to those who choose not to follow the United States Immigration Laws and cross the border illegally.

As a human being, of course I have compassion.  I feel empathy and sympathy for anyone not as well off as me and I will tell you, I am not well off.  President Trump is President Trump.  I am not talking as a Trump Apologist, but rather, as a Trump Supporter.  I cannot attest to why President Trump acts like he does but one thing is for certain, he gets the job done.  Perhaps he acts this way because it does get results.  What have our career politicians, those who speak gently and call each other "my friend/colleague so-and-so from so-and-so" in hearings, done for the American public in recent years?  Obama doubled the national deficit.  Bill and Hillary Clinton now have $1.8 billion dollars that they can play with, while American taxpayers pay for their security and travel, all gained through corruption.  All of obama's "masterpieces" are failures and the immigration problem has not been fixed.  Illegal immigrants cost California taxpayers in the range of $25 billion a year.  That is a b, $25 billion a year for just one state.  My point being that the United States cannot take in the whole world.  We just cannot sustain that.  Economics 101.

One prime example would be the current California Attorney General, xavier becerra.  You can check out his bona fides at your leisure via Google.  He is up to his neck in the Wasserman-Schulz/IT scandal.  There were three “murders/arkensides” of federal prosecutors and investigators have not ruled out they are connected to the Democrat IT scandal.  Becerra had to leave Washington real quick when government investigators found out he gave them a fraudulent copy of a subpoenaed server.  Maybe you've heard of it.  Another one is deleon.  This guy brags that half of his family are illegal aliens using stolen identities so they can work.  This guy is a House Representative, I believe.  Is this the type of America you want your children to inherit?

I know what it is like to want things and not be able to have them because there is no money.  My mother raised four of us by herself and was able to purchase a house in San Francisco back in the 1960's.  The "American Dream" was still alive back then, not so much anymore for the "Regular Joe."  Mom made ends meet but there was no extra, except for maybe a double-feature at one of the local theaters on Mission Street.  Mom didn't use welfare or any sort of government handout - Mom is too proud for that and worked hard for us.  So for illegal aliens to come into my country, our country, and take it over physically as well as financially, I have to say enough is enough.  I understand that they are poor but we have poor here in the United States.  Where is all of your compassion about the United States’ poor?  Some of your fellow Americans don’t have enough to eat, no place to sleep.  We cannot even take care of our senior citizens, children living in squalor and poverty right here in the good ol' U.S. of A, the homeless, veterans whose experiences were so terrifying that they need help and you turn a blind eye and then welcome the illegal aliens.  Why don't we take care of our own first and then we can help others.  If we are broken, it helps no one in the end.

Edinmountainview, you have made some excellent points. Kudos! We have elitist political "representatives" who are choosing to represent people who are not even citizens. You are exactly correct that we have ignored our citizens, the long-serving, taxpaying, law-abiding constituents in favor of those who by their very presence are breaking the law. It certainly is screwed up, and if the American people had any brains they would not vote for those who choose not to represent them, or as they are obligated, act in the best-interests of the citizens.

Good post.  It came across as heartfelt and sincere and I think that you captured what a lot of Americans feel.  It is always labelled as racism by the hard left but that seems like one of the few cards they have left to play.
To be fair, although Obama did greatly increase our debt, the Subprime Mortgage crisis was handed to him by Bush.  If I'm wrong I am sure that I will get corrected on that point.  The Clinton and Bush years were wasted years for Americans.
I believe that part of Trump's growing appeal is that he won't grovel under the elitists PC rules.  It has been a long time since we had someone in the White House who tuned into the average American instead of pandering to a handful of people who don't want to deal with the simple reality of there being only 2 sexes, for example.  People are fed up with this sort of nonsense.  And like you mention it is not out of a lack of sympathy, empathy or compassion.  It is however, a refusal to be told what we must believe and say on such issues.  It is also a rejection of the left's attempt to control free speech.
America likes Trump for these reasons but especially that he is acting on issues, like ILLEGAL immigration; he is getting things done.   He acts like a man instead of a child.

Thanks, Jack.  The denial of the "elitist political representatives", and indeed, some of their constituents is undeniable (that will be the subject of another post).  At the moment, I believe California is a lost cause, until we can get the voter rolls cleaned up and a fair election.

Good post, Edinmountain.
I agree with Jeff and James too.

James and Ryan.  Thank you both.  I know that I am fed up.  At one point in time I would call for the deportation of "criminal" illegal aliens.  Now, with so much trash coming from our supposed leaders and their blind followers, I now call for the deportation of "all" illegal aliens.  The few ruin it for the masses, in my opinion.

Amen, I’m with you.  To be honest, three years ago, I didn’t know much about illegal immigration, but now I’m dead set against all illegal immigrants, and for limiting legal immigration to give them time to assimilate.

Stoney, did you catch that the author has roots in El Salvador? My cinnamon woman comes from China.  It is not about color.  It is about following the process.  I think you would feel differently if immigrants were flooding across the Swiss border without any vetting.

It’s really disgusting when degenerate whites try to appease degenerates in other races by prostrating themselves and pretending they are bad because their skin happens to be white.

edinmountainview Outstanding points and examples.  Your family typifies what immigrants who came here once were and should still be.  I don't blame you for resenting people who break our laws, and skip all the paperwork and costs, and then act like they should be entitled to everything your Mom EARNED by doing things the right way.
Too many people don't realize that it's easier to immigrate here now than it was in the early 1900's for many people.  When my family came here they had to have a sponsor who would pay their way back home if they failed to hold their own financially.  They were also prequalified based on their job skills, and had to be in good health.  The US would have sent them back home if they didn't meet all those requirements when they got to Ellis Island.
Two days ago I was compared to a Natzi for wanting people caught here illegally sent home, a comparison I find outrageous.  On one hand Natzi's were collecting Jews so they could murder them, and in my case I just want those illegals caught because they are consuming US tax dollars, we badly need for our own poor and seniors, and want to sent them home.
The US is deeply in debt and very likely will be unable to keep the promises they made to seniors when it comes to Social Security and Medicare, at least partially because we are spending valuable tax money on illegal immigrants who didn't earn or deserve the slice of our taxes that we give them for free, if they can get past our border patrol ONE TIME.
Most are dirt poor where they come from and can live better here without working, than they can live in their own country.  Is it any wonder that if we don't enforce penalties for coming here illegally, millions will continue to try every year?

re:"Why don't we take care of our own first?"
That is an excellent question. There are many benefits to doing so.
The first thing that would happen is that we could bring all our troops home, reduce the Pentagon budget by (conservatively) .5 Trillion and insert that into building the American economy.
That would have the added effect of the gratitude of people around the world relieved of the benefits of the US Making the World Safe for Democracy.
The second thing that would happen is that we would take care
the American citizen and repeal citizens united and get coorporate money out of politics.

The third that would happen, is we would pull the plug on the CIA, delivering us from a large portion of our  traitorous deep state.  After that we could begin work on a few more of those 3 letter agencies.
The fourth is that we would not have Goldman Sachs and the Council on Foreign relations run our country from the inside for the benefit of Wall Street and....
Finally, if we took care of our own, we would abolish the FED, since it is not a US agency, and institute a US governed institution.
There are alot of benefits to be had from taking care of our own first.

Count me in.

We do take care of our own, but not well enough, people need social services and health care support to become independent from government as much as possible.

Mufasa, please go read  history again.  No  nation in history ever shrunk it's military and lived to talk about it.  Your historical ignorance is downright dangerous.  Islam for one, China for two, and North Korea for three only respect force.  Shrinking the military is only an invitation to them to encroach further on America's sovereignty, without which the world would be bedlam.
Money in politics isn't the problem and only a nitwit would believe that when Trump was massively outspent by Hillary and Jeb and smashed the latter and beat the former.
While the CIA has hijinks, it's nothing compared to other nations.  It can be reined in, and part of the problem is it's infested with liberals like you, who claim to stand for good, but are full of evil.  Read "Charlie Wilson's War' for an example.
End corporate and individual entitlements.
Ending the Fed is a good idea.

It seems possible that Trump mau shrink our military budget if he follows through with making our allies pay more and rely less on us for defense.
I don't know if he would reduce the debt (actually just overspend less), increase social programs, fund the newly created space force, or just improve our military.

You mean mom did not get WIC or what it was called then? It is interesting that as a Caribbean immigrant, I hold a similar view on the topic with you. Still, if the billions given away to other nations were stopped, we could feed a lots of Americans.

Wow!  Really great post!  God bless you for your service to your country and even more so, God bless your mother who embodies what it is to be truly American.  We are in desperate need of such men and women today!

For the left it's always about race.  Every leftist on WB thinks we on the right are a bunch of racist (which is how every leftist in the world thinks).  They believe that this nation is a bunch of racist.  It's what you fall back to when your arguments have no legs to stand on.
We on the right moved past that decades ago.

Liberals have several reasons NOT to take care of their own first.
Liberals tend to rank high on the personality trait openness, love of novelty. This causes them prefer the different, the more exotic the better ... and look down on what is known and familiar. Taken to an extreme, liberals hate their own culture and people and idealize everyone else, the more different the better. This causes them to want foreigners to come, in their eyes, to improve society. Let's give them shelter, welfare, they make us better.
Liberals have 2 channel morality: care/harm and fairness. They don't value respect for authority, in-group membership or sanctity/purity. Nationalism, to them, is meaningless at best, evil at worst because it is exclusionary. So they want to undermine national borders and will NOT restrict aid to those within their own group. To them, that's unfair.
When morality is pretty much care/harm and fairness, they look at poor Americans who are theoretically better off than even poorer people abroad, say you're privileged, let's help others who need it more. The Biblical maxim "help the poor within your own gates before you help a stranger", to them, is immoral. The stranger is morally superior and probably needier, so help them instead.

Tamara Wilhite, very well said.  It really amazes me how so many people can buy into some of these very self destructive ideas.
