Doctor Who?

My Recent Posts

With Doctor Who premiering on Saturday with a Global Simulcast event, and the introduction of the first female Doctor, I thought I would lighten up the forum a bit with a really funny parody of Doctor Who done by Rowan Atkinson many years ago.

It was written by Steven Moffat who until this season was the show runner for Doctor Who since Russell T. Davies left, and has written many episodes on the rebooted series.

This was done for Comic Relief by the BBC and you will recognize some very famous British faces in it.

But . . .  is he on First?  (Sorry, I couldn't resist . . . .)

I watched it. I was underwhelmed. Note- I've watched Dr. Who for years and attended Who conventions, so I'm an actual fan.

I was disappointed that they intentionally made every white guy a weak, fearful wimp who needed to be saved by the women - whether the black wife or Dr. Who.

Yea, about what I expected Tamara.  the new Social Justice world.  Interesting new monster, but Destroying it just like they did Star Wars.  Just like with last doctor who was one of the worst if not worst (to date original or current series), at least you know it will be over in 3 years and they will get someone else.

Hopefully with the new show runner the show will go in a better direction than it has been trending in recent years, but I have little faith in BBCA, they have bought into social justice hook line and singer, every show has to have some gay character and it is all female empowerment and breakdown of the "masculine man".

I was waiting in episode 1 to see which one was going to be gay, but I guess that big reveal won't come yet...I am sure it will happen soon.

I've noticed a sharp increase in deliberate repetition of classic lines and scenarios as they move away from the traditional character, as if adding the little trivial details make up for the undermining of the main character.

They could have brought back "The Doctor's Daughter". That's cannon, and given that she regenerated, she could be said to have regenerated again ... even as a black female. They could have brought back Romana - that's cannon.

Nope, make Dr. Who a woman and systematically humiliate white guys and say that's improvement.

And let's not forget making the Master a female where she finally "redeems" her evil ways.
