All the world is becoming fake.  The USA leads this parade. We have fakes-a-many, with a regular fake-o-rama ongoing each day.

  • Fake news
  • Fake bombs
  • Fake outrage
  • Fake reports
  • Fake politicians
  • Fake investigations
  • Fake accusations
  • Fake terrorism
  • Fake security
  • Fake love
  • Fake end-of-days or religion
  • Fake science*
  • Fake lies**

All these are co-mingled with the real thing.

We all believe in fake something or other.  From politics to science to religion, a fake is offered to all, even the most intelligent among us.  Each of us succumbs now and then.

I used to believe someone, somehow, someway would bring back sanity.  Someone would find the words.  Now I believe the contagion of "hate" and "fake" must burn itself out.  It may take a generation or more.

* History is loaded with false scientific reports.  From Piltdown man, to countless cures for obscure diseases, to causes for earthquakes. No recital needed here.

**This one needs an explanation.  You have an unfavorable event, such as the murder of a reporter.  What you do is admit the event but lie about its origins or outcomes.

You think we were saner when we accepted every bit of information was considered fact/real?  I think it’s good we’re questioning what information we see and hear.  The fact of the matter is that we all gravitate to that which want to believe and repel that which we wish to be false.  So in a sense nothing has changed except for the fact people have a catchy new word for that which they disagree with…fake.
Don Allen Added Oct 25, 2018 - 12:24pm
Johnny.  Correct you are.  Yet, we have moved forward (or back) to what can only be called "Double Down Days."  Here the author of fakeness of whatever, no matter how fake or how stupid, simply doubles down on their story.  Fans continue to accept while others simply disdain what they sustain.

In this "information age," i've seen where those who publicly lie get caught out, VERY quickly, so overall, all the fakeness is a Good Thing, as it's exposing the liars and revealing the truthtellers.
Truth is good.
Shoot, even those who PRIVATELY lie get caught right quick, too, what with shows like Cheaters and websites like "checkmate," etc.  I see the trend is growing toward those who love the Truth, however.
i'm right partial to Project Veritas, as well; i laugh my ass off at the HUGE number of times democrats and leftists have been caught deliberately lying to either their constituents or their users(like leftist Facespace, leftist gaggle, leftist tweetie, ad nauseum).  But i DO wonder why the prosecutions of these obvious criminals is taking so long...
i'm definitely looking forward to the antitrust suits against the silicon valley leftist corporations and out'n'out traitors like Apple and Google, currently selling/sold out entirely to the ChiComs, whose corporate execs are quite likely to be prosecuted for their betrayals.

One reason that "FAKE" is there in such quantity is so many, too many, even smart people, simply "need the feed" on a daily if not hourly basis.  Like some drug, they need a fix all day long and into the evening.
For these plasma partisans, it doesn't matter if you have done anything, will do anything, or even plan to do something, you are accepted with waves of support because what of you think and who you hate. You are admitted, covered by this cloak of acceptability.

That's why we shouldn't rely just on one source, we need several and then make our own analysis to determine the whole truth.

Synchronicity. Echoes of my post!
Yes - a healthy cynicism was justified but this extreme of throwing everything out, is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
Hate and division is no way to run a country.
We need to get back to sanity!
Don Allen Added Oct 26, 2018 - 10:59am
Dino.  Seems correct.  Multiple sources do help.  Too bad there is no source, call it Real Clear News, in parallel with the respected Real Clear Politics.  But then, if you don't mind a bit of math, you average minus infinity with plus infinity, you question the outcome. :)
Opher.  Sanity may be one of those nuggets now found only by gleaners among the other waste products of the age.

As an atheist and anarchist, I am convinced that fakery is as old as the hills and predates language.  So I do not despair that fakery is any more prevalent than in the past, but rather celebrate what I see as the growth of skepticism - a very healthy trend wherein ever more people are seeing the fakery they were born into.
So I must disagree with our author that all the world is becoming fake.  It always was.  What is new is that the fakery is no longer invisible.
We can date the "communication revolution" from the invention of writing or of Guttenberg's press or newspapers, or radio or (recently) the internet.
But what is happening is the death of authority because authority depends upon the ignorance of the masses.  The communication revolution is the great leveler which makes it increasingly difficult for the authorities to fool their victims.  Kings were once seen as gods.  Now they are seen as phony corrupt politicians hiding behind their overpaid gunslingers.
More and more, the victims are seeing all the fakery. They may interpret it as more fakery but in fact, it is more seeing.

If you have never been to China, then you will never understand what fake is.  Everything is fake on the most basic level: fake baby food, rice, eggs, meat, you name it.  Then, every major brand has a fake equivalent.  The rules are so onerous that even official documents are faked.  You even have fake divorces so a couple can buy more than one apartment.  Men and women hire fake partners to satisfy their parents that they intend to marry someday.  Some even marry to satisfy their parents.  The marriage is a shame.  The society is fake from top to bottom.
FacePalm Added Oct 26, 2018 - 5:08pm
i have never been to China, am quite unlikely to ever go, and will fight like hell against it's people if they try to take over HERE.
This is one reason i relish stories like the exposure of Feinstein's driver/aide-de-camp, the fact that China has bought (or has controlling interest) in virtually all of Hollywood's movie production companies, and the recent exposure of their infiltration of quite a few American colleges, which goes a long way toward explaining not only their hatred of republicans, independents, and libertarians, but also their repeated refusals to let them speak - for their controllers are quite aware that the arguments of the leftists fall to pieces when any honest debate takes place with those they despise for exposing the flaws of their "system."
Many years ago on a different blog at a different time and place, far far away, i made the point that several corporate entities were looking at the "China model" with slavering jaws - and whaddaya know?  Damned if Apple didn't totally sell out and give the ChiComs everything they need to monitor all Americans who have Apple devices, and now Google is joining them.
They're traitors, and i look forward to their comeuppance.
The Storm approaches.

Jeff Michka Added Oct 26, 2018 - 6:42pm
SSSSsssh!, Bill H!  Even implying Orange Smear has ANYTHING to do with fakery is pure leftist "hate thought," directed at our wonderful, skilled businessman/president, always making the "very biggest, best deal in all of history," and only preaching love and inclusion as defined by David Duke.  Duke ain't a "Grand Wizard" for nothing.  LOL
Leroy Added Oct 26, 2018 - 6:57pm
Don't get me wrong, FacePalm; I like China and the Chinese in general.  I just hate all the fake stuff.  It's a little unnerving when you have a baby and discover that the baby formula is fake and could kill your baby.  You never know if what you are buying or eating is real or fake.  Sometimes they serve rat or fox meat in lieu of lamb. There are no morals against lying and it is ok to cheat a foreigner, even encouraged, especially if it is an American.  It's just business.  Other than that, China and the Chinese people are great.
FacePalm Added Oct 27, 2018 - 1:07am
Other than the fact that what they sell can't be trusted, that their "business model" is to lie to foreigners to the point that what they sell can KILL YOU or your child, that they have "no moral sense," they're great people...?
You're a far better man than i; i'd get right tf out of there like my head was on fire and my ass was a-catchin'.  "Just business" sounds like the mafia, to me.  "Nothing personal that you have to suffer and die; we just want your money any way we can get it."
No wonder they don't want a message like "you reap what you sow" to gain traction.

Gosh, just think.  Only two or three years ago, we had a world without fakery.
Or maybe Bill H. is offering a fake history.

We've learned most of what we've been taught and told through the years was fake but we believed.  JFK was a dedicated family man.  Abe was honest.  RR was for small government.  With technology we now see the emperor has no clothes.  That's a good thing and scares the hell out of the power structure.
Its the morons that look at someone like Trump and think he's something new to mix.  We've had Donald Trumps all along.  We just didn't have a clue they really existed.
Bill H. Added Oct 27, 2018 - 11:12am
In Trump's world, if something is not to his liking, is critical of him, or exposes one of his countless lies, it is fake.
And the astonishing thing is that those who support him actually believe this!
John Howard Added Oct 27, 2018 - 1:16pm
George Romey, your last comment, (just above) is right on.
Bill H., you presume too much when you think Trump's supporters agree with everything he says.  From what I read, most just think he is the lesser of evils.

John - All I can go by are the Trumpies out here, and ones that I know of who ALL seem to agree with whatever he comes up with.
Help me out here!
John Howard Added Oct 27, 2018 - 4:43pm
Bill, they are merely suffering from S.A.D.  (scared about democrats) and are convinced that Trump isn't one.  It's a symptom of the two-party delusion afflicting those who actually think there is a difference between parasites who want to tax and rule and parasites who want to tax and rule.
FacePalm Added Oct 27, 2018 - 9:41pm
At least Trump seems more interested in helping people find good paying jobs BEFORE he taxes and rules them...unlike the democrats, whose playbook seems to require more and more people dependent on gov't largess so they'll maintain control over a voting bloc.
But very soon, the democrats will become irrelevant, a historical footnote.  The 2016 election was no fluke, and many more democrats are going to lose their seats - and hopefully, their asses, as well.  It will be a Loooong time, if ever, before a democrat wins the presidency again.

I believe it is actually T.O.S. (Trump Obedience Syndrome). Someone else here on WB referred to this definition, which to me is dead-on describing T.O.S.:
1.     Authoritarian Personality Syndrome
Authoritarianism refers to the advocacy or enforcement of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom, and is commonly associated with a lack of concern for the opinions or needs of others. Authoritarian personality syndrome—a well-studied and globally-prevalent condition—is a state of mind that is characterized by belief in total and complete obedience to one’s authority. Those with the syndrome often display aggression toward outgroup members, submissiveness to authority, resistance to new experiences, and a rigid hierarchical view of society. The syndrome is often triggered by fear, making it easy for leaders who exaggerate threat or fear monger to gain their allegiance.
This is exactly how past Dictators were able to be successful in gaining many followers.
FacePalm Added Oct 28, 2018 - 3:46am
Anyone who thinks Trump is an authoritarian either has a screw loose or they've never lived under a REAL one.
Hell, even Abraham Lincoln was far more of an authoritarian than Trump is; he locked up HUNDREDS of newspapermen and critics during the War for State's Rights, for the "duration," some on charges as specious as "disagreeing with the president."
Tell me, who has Trump had locked up that's in the media?
What's that, you say?  Couldn't be crickets, could it?
All these jackasses whining about Trump while his policies have brought BILLIONS of bux back to America, gotten well over 4 million people off food stamps, and things are going so well that there are 7.2 million jobs looking for people to be employed - and, as usual when demand outstrips supply, wages are rising.
Anyone who has any kind of portfolio - especially a mutual fund where betting against Trump is inadvisable - has done VERY well...unlike the globalist enemy, Soros, who - along with his complaisant Quislings in MSM - bet heavily against the success Trump policies have proven to be since Day 1 post Jan 20th, 2017, has lost a lotta dough - Soros, reportedly, over a BILLION bux.  Couldn't happen to a nicer fella, what with his Nazi collaboration and his subsequent rise to great wealth by bankrupting various countries and stealing pension funds, and all...
Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder(or "T.A.R.D.") seems endemic among certain people(tip o' the hat to Jeffry), and will certainly be their undoing; living in hatred is very unwise.
John Howard Added Oct 28, 2018 - 8:13am
Bill H.,
That description of Authoritarian Personality Syndrome describes both parties and all religions.
Trump seems slightly more sympathetic to Libertarian (anti-authoritarian) thinking than any Democrat, but I think the Presidency is a tiny part of a huge state drifting toward totalitarianism.

I was describing the personality traits of a typical dedicated Trump follower. Trump simply uses tactics to manipulate people with Authoritarian Personality Syndrome. Trump is an extreme narcissist, and for him there could be no better audience that these type of people.
John Howard Added Oct 28, 2018 - 1:24pm
Well, Sigmund, since psychology is a pseudo-science and you do not know the "typical dedicated Trump follower", I have to assume that you are just insulting those who don't vote as you vote.
Psychology is usually just a roundabout way to insult and dismiss those who don't share the political gospel of the psycho-babbler.
Carry on insulting the other team if you wish but you ought to serve a grain of salt or two when you diagnose strangers and pretend to read minds.

Living is learning, and what I've learned lately is the wide variety of conditions suffered by those many we disagree with.  Most are inspired by a condition of war, PTSD, the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Get that, and benefits flow forth.
In this thread alone we see the following.
Authoritarian Personality Syndrome
Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder
Trump Obedience Syndrome
Scared about Democrats
How to make a disorder?  First you need a target, e.g. Trump, then you need the object or predicate, e.g. syndrome, and finally you need an adjective, i.e. hate.
Here's the guide. Take one or more of each, and you have a condition.

Target: Trump, Leftist, Republican, Hate, Fake, Authoritarian
Object: Syndrome, Disorder, Derangement, Psychosis, Neurosis
Adjective: Traumatic, Abnormality, Stress, Hate, Fear, Post

Put almost any of these together and you've got a condition. Many descriptors are interchangeable.
Examples:  Trump Abnormal Fear Disorder (TAFD)
Leftist Post Traumatic Hate Syndrome (LPTHS)
Among the targets, one could include gender or race nouns.  It's OK to hate Leftists or Trump and disagree with them/him, but does the invention of a new pseudo-condition make it correct or legit? Yes, they sound great/awful, important/trivial, or intelligent/ignorant, but note computers and AI (Artificial Intelligence) can make these things by the hundreds.
Too much FAKE is going around, gaining momentum, taking over our world.  Personally, I’m a victim of Fake Disorder Fear (FDF).

Excellent.  I hope it is understood that S.A.D. (Scared About Democrats) was a joke intended to ridicule this whole rhetorical game of pseudo-diagnosis of mental states.
I too suffer from F.D.F.  I'm thinking of forming a support group.

Even before the commencement of hostilities, he was already trampling on the Constitution.
I still have to marvel at people who will try to convince me that a left jackboot crushing my throat and liberties is better than a right jackboot crushing my throat and liberties ... or that either one is somehow better or even "not as bad" as the other.
Government is about power through force, coercion and the restriction of freedoms. Nothing more.
