What is a RINO?

So, what is a RINO.

It's funny. I've seen the previous GOP Pres candidate called a RINO. I've seen the previous GOP President called a RINO. I've seen the editor of the National Review called a RINO. I've seen the House Speaker called a RINO. I've seen George Will called a RINO.

As far as I can tell the only thing that gets you called a RINO is opposition to Trump. Like, the Republican party has no principles beyond absolute blind loyalty to a man who wasn't even in the party 5 years ago. The architects of modern conservative thought, with decades of consistent positions, cast out in favor of a game show host with a 5th grade understanding of government. It's just scary how deep the tribalism goes.

There are no RINOs, Spang.  They went away when republicans went away to become Trumpists.  Worry now about TINOs.  Trumpists In Name Only, of course.  Imagine how shallow that is.

RINO has been around long before Trump.  A RINO is someone who promises their constitutents one thing then go to Washington and do the opposite.  Go home, get people to vote for you promising them stuff and then get to washington and vote the opposite.  McCain was famous for this.  Jeff Flake quite because he was so blatant about it he knew he coudln't even win his own primary.  He would sound very conservative when campaigning in AZ, then he would go to Washington and vote against the very things he campaigned for, like repealing ObamaCare.
There is another class of RINO and those are people in the republican parties that are known democrats, very rarely vote with the caucus.  Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski for example.  Olympia Snowe used to be this way.  They are very liberal republicans and typically vote democrat
Collins is pro abortion, owned by the AFT (teachers union) and can be counted on to always vote against anything limiting abortion or the union.
The republican party "planks" that are defined at each national convention state what the party stands for.  If you are a republican and you vote against these "planks" then you are a RINO, no matter what you promise your voters
Here is the 2016 Republican Platform

Yes it is scary. These people think with their glands.

Republican in name only or moderate Republicans who think!
Jeff Michka Added Nov 8, 2018 - 7:22pm
Contradiction there, Dino.

Yes, William Buckley was a RINO. Romney was a RINO. McCain was a RINO.
RINOs are traitors to the Conservative cause. They are spineless. They are Wusses.  They are Panzy-assed.
They are so infected with Political Correctness that they cower before the Left and even do their bidding. I considered George Bush II a RINO.
A RINO is also an Internationalist. Many belong to the Council of Foreign Relations which is about, secretly, doing away with borders. They are full-blown Masons with their global-baloney Idealism. They are not for America.
President Trump is cleaning them out. Flake gone. Corker gone. In the Marine Corps, there is a term for people like them----Dirt-bags.  They are just Liberals masquerading around as Conservatives!
President Trump is remaking the Republican Party into a Nationalist Party!
The beginnings of the Republican party in the 1850's was a radical progressive party and the old Democrat party was the conservative party. This all shifted after the 1960s.

We no longer use the term RINO for our losers and cowards and turncoats. We have a new term for them:
Because they are ideological cuckolds! They do nothing but cuck!
James Travil Added Nov 8, 2018 - 9:22pm
I prefer the term COCKSERVATIVE because they are cock s**kers! The fascist republicans like Sessions that is.
Ken Added Nov 8, 2018 - 11:27pm
Right JT - because sessions single handled kicked the KKK out of Alabama and Bankrupted them.  He should not only have never recused himself from Mueller, but he shouldn't have taken the job if he knew he was going to.  Standard congressional discussions with diplomats happen, that doesn't require recusal for bias.
What exactly has he done that is "fascist"?  I thought he was a great choice, but have been very disappointed,   I am glad he is resigning, but please, what has he EVER done that is fascist?

Once again, he was governing AGAINST the will of the people. What could be more fascist than that? The puritanical Keibler elf instructed both the DEA and local authorities to go after sellers and users of marijuana in states where it is legal (again, by the vote and will of the people). Trump himself promised to not do such a thing, Sessions the scumbag fascist went against this because he is a pathetic puritanical fuck who has a bug up his ass against anyone who has pleasure in anyway. His famous quote is "Good people don't use marijuana." No Mr. Sessions, Good people do use marijuana, and evil fucks like you harass them for it. And you are DONE sir! Than you Mr. Trump.

Titles/Labels - the simplicity of thought to describe a complicated person - its cheating.  You see the label and you don't have to make any thought.  Your opinion is already made for you with just a label.
James Travil Added Nov 9, 2018 - 12:37am
Personally I think that labels are important. Where I work we have an asexual staff member named Taylor. Like they said, their adjectives are they, their, and them. Their label is asexual. These are important things to people, they let others know who we are. My adjectives are he, him and his,. My labels are husband, father, independent, moderate, centrist, and atheist.

First, awesome icon.  Interesting username, too.
Second, in order to understand what a RINO is, one would need to have a comprehension of what a Republic is...a nation of LAWS, not of men...or in Latin, Lex Rex as opposed to Rex Lex(the law is king vs. the king is law).
That's the only sense in which i'm a republican; i believe that when the Constitution says it's the Supreme Law of the Land(Art. 6), that is what it is, and it's exactly what every representative agrees to when they take their oath of office.  There are no caveats in that Oath; it doesn't say "as interpreted by SCOTUS;" it just says(for Congresspersons; it's different for the president, VP, SCOTUS, and the military) that they swear to "preserve, protect, and defend" it "against all enemies, foreign and domestic."  There's more; i could post all of the Oaths of office in their entirety, but won't unless asked.
So a Republican In Name Only more or less sides with democrats in believing the false notion that the Constitution can be ignored with impunity(or "interpreted" any old way), which means they're Oathbreakers - and if they conspire to implement any other form of governance here by collusion with any foreign power antithetical to the principles of the Constitution, they're also traitors, and should be viewed and suffer consequences as such...like the recent shift by leftist democrats to embrace socialism.  The 4th Article, 4th clause guarantees to every State a Republican form of government, and nothing else.
Most people, from my observation, have no idea what form of governance America has, and those who are slightly more intelligent might hazard "democracy" with a question mark at the end.  Few know that the word "democracy" is NOT IN the Constitution at all, and this did not happen by accident.  Further, they have little idea that we have a Constitutional Republic, and couldn't tell you the difference between that and a democracy if a gun was to their heads.
Ignorant people breed tyrants to govern them.  Sheep beget wolves.

Nature operates on Tribalism. Aristotle observes that Man is a Herd animal.  God created "tribes" called Nations. Embedded in man is a herd instinct. That instinct natural telos is supposed to be towards one's nation.
Karl Marx came along and said the workers are to herd together against the bourgeois. He redirected the instinct toward HIS objectives. Karl Marx destroyed national cohesion when he advanced class consciousness. That is what Social Justice and Ethnic/Gender studies are doing---implanting Class consciousness in order to deconstruct European society.
Furthermore, this type of class consciousness is also then moved into Ideology. Ideology becomes a Tribe!  That is why the powers that be put in the """Colors"""" of "red" and "blue" to political  divisions in America. This is what Marxism seeks to do--transfer the telos of the national instinct---to Ideological loyalty!  It is how the Marxization of a society is accomplished!
Stone-Eater Added Nov 9, 2018 - 12:57pm
Yawn. Lindsay, you might notice that the THEORY of Marxism roots in the 1850's, and we're living in 2018. I understand that you prefer museums rather than live in our age....
Jeff Michka Added Nov 9, 2018 - 5:33pm
So, Lyin Lindsay, which tribe is your tribe?  The good white people's tribe of neoconfederate racists and fascists?  Still can't tell us what tenets of Marxism are at play here.  Why?  Could it be two reasons:  1-you just talk Marx this and that to impress other rightists, or, more likely 2- you Don't know?
