Our Schools Are the Death of Western Civilization BY DESIGN

My Recent Posts

An article by a professor at Notre Dame was brought to my attention by another professor at a different university.  Quite often university professors seem universally contaminated by liberalism but this analysis is SPOT ON.  They understand it is not a failure in western education systems to educate our children any better; failing to teach them the cultural roots of their own nation, and to have them understand the foundation of Western Civilization is very intentional and deliberately designed into curriculum.

A student with a good knowledge of their culture and history, with the ability to use reason and logic – that student can grow up to be a troublesome employee – full of opinions and expectations.  An ignorant student, devoid of such thoughts, receptive and obedient, can be more adaptable to corporate and government expectations.  This liberal education, by design, helps destroy Western Civilization and nation states in favor of globalism, corporatism, and multi-culturalism.  At least, until the people produced in this system submit to a foreign culture with strength and backbone to fight for cultural domination, as predicted….

The video below is based on the article: “How a Generation Lost its Common Culture” by Patrick Deneen. His article begins: “My students are know-nothings. They are exceedingly nice, pleasant, trustworthy, mostly honest, well-intentioned, and utterly decent. But their brains are largely empty, devoid of any substantial knowledge that

a0031341-815

might be the fruits of an education in an inheritance and a gift of a previous generation. They are the culmination of western civilization, a civilization that has forgotten nearly everything about itself, and as a result, has achieved near-perfect indifference to its own culture….”

I cannot emphasize enough how worthy the article and video are.  Take some time for it.

The commenting narrator on this video, saddened by Europe’s obvious decline, notes: “Our children are taught to respect the identity of others and pay no attention to their own…. They are taught not to be themselves, but to be global citizens.”  Only diversity and conformity are taught.

The professor who wrote the article (Deneen) caps his thoughts with: “I can’t help but hold the hopeful thought that the world they have inherited – a world without inheritance, without past, without future, or deepest cares – is about to come tumbling down – and that this collapse would be the true beginning of a real education.”

Given Western Europe’s intentional efforts at collective national suicide, and the efforts of a partner culture to conquer and assimilate them, the results are very predictable.

One teacher commented below the video:

“I am a former 23 -year public school teacher. I left two years ago because I refuse to participate in educational malpractice any longer. I sleep better these days. There is an all out war against White men and boys. I will spend the rest of my days uplifting White men and denouncing the current mindset of the Left….”

Kudos to Way of the World on Youtube for the amazingly poignant and well-argued video below:

Interesting post. Thanks.

I've seen a many episodes of a show where a guy goes to college campuses and talks to students.

And over and over, the students say that you can't know anything that there isn't a video tape of or that you can't test in a lab. He says how do you know George Washington existed? They say (effectively) you can't.

He asks how can you trust your 5 senses if they evolved on their own? They reply that you can't.

They don't seem to understand that HOW is different from WHY. If you can explain how a process in nature happens, you still don't know why it happens or came about.

And the bizarre thing is they have astounding arrogance mixed with ignorance that seems to stop any critical thought.

The sad thing, Notre Dame - a catholic school, like University of Dayton, BC, Georgetown, Villanova and many others has completely abandoned it's faith.  Students that choose to go to those schools should be expected to be part of the faith as curriculum.  When catholic schools are pushing abortion and other denials of their tenets, they are hardly catholic schools.  Not saying they don't have the right, but if they want to be what they pretend to be, they shouldn't be liberal left abortion supporting anti-god schools, which many now are.  Plenty of schools for that if that is what students are looking for

David-
i read Deneen's article(he makes some good points, but seems to be at a loss for any kind of solution; ends rather badly, i thought) but i cannot find a link to any video.

IMO, one goes to a public school to get schooled, which consists mainly of learning how to pass tests and be graded like beef; anyone who wants an EDUCATION gets right the hell out of the Public Fool System, and spends some time reading...LOTS of time reading, preferably with some discussion afterwards.

Curiously, one of the most helpful books i ever read was one of the Sackett series by Louis L'Amour; he made the point that in traveling West, settlers needed to severely curtail the books they could bring, and gave a list.  A "recommended reading list" would be excellent as a starting point, IMO, and a good book of quotations would also be important.

Me, i've been a subscriber to libertyquotes.ca for several years, now, and have compiled nxs of 800 pages of Arial 11 font quotes about liberty and it's opposite, tyranny, from many great minds of both ancient past and various other time periods, including fairly recently.  Just as there have been champions of liberty, there have been champions of tyranny, and it's quite important to know how to discern the difference, to promote the former and at least warn against the latter, if not actively fight against it..

David - Well I agreed with the first part - we need an education system that promotes thinking, creativity and awareness of culture and our education system does not do this. It is purely about regurgitating facts for exams.
As for the second part (equating that with a liberal system) I think it is entirely the opposite. It is the conservatives, as exemplified by the Tories over here, who are promoting a restricted curriculum based on selective knowledge and doing away with mind expanding discussion, creativity and anything requiring thought. Our children are being turned into fodder for exams. It was the liberal system, under the Labour government, that promoted an expansive curriculum with the arts and creativity, skills, discussion and a questioning attitude.
I ran my school on a liberal basis and produced kids who questioned, thought and were innovative. The Tories have driven that out.
You've got it round the wrong way.

Recently three college professors, all liberal leaning but tired of the "victimhood" being taught on college campuses submitted a bunch of fake papers with outrageous but very left leaning made up research.  Seven papers were accepted and four were published.  Its very hard to get a paper published in general.

There was no independent verification of supposedly facts or no one questioning the over the top subject matter.  All the papers fit in with the narrative heterosexual white men are predators and everyone else is a victim.  Then you wonder why the educational system is failing.

George N Romey - back in June I had an article on Pole Shifts in Nexus magazine; they had another article on bogus leftist nonsense dominating articles.  The authors made up a truly ridiculous premise about gender with comments like "the penis is not a male sex organ but is a social construct responsible for many of society's problems from inequality of pay to global warming."  And it got published.  There is a computer program that was designed just to contaminate liberal publications with such nonsense, and since they accept the papers if it sounds liberal enough, the bogus name used for this software is now (was as of the article I'm describing last spring, anyway - ranked 21st in the world for the number of citations by other "scientists" for its articles.  We need not wonder why the educational system is failing - it's working as designed by Marxist Globalists!

David, people are too comfortable accepting things without question. Among them is the famous verse from the Bible which tells readers who lack critical thinking that "ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set thee free". Well, as I'm fond of saying, "Truth does not set you free. It imprisons you with the obligation to live according to it and to propagate it, which is a serious problem in a world where people are only too willing to believe lies".

As for universities, here's the latest outrage to emanate from South Africa, which once more proves that racism is not just "a white man's thing". To whit, I direct you and our fellow Writer Beat-ers to

Part I The Case of the Barefoot Socrates: Academic Myth-Making and the Jewish Transformation of the West

Our Classical Studies curriculum is severely damaged!  Classical departments are closing. It used to be that people read the Greeks and the Romans. No more. Progressives and the Marxists do NOT want people to learn from Classical Antiquity--the foundation of Western Civilization. Why do you think they created the meme DWEM for?  It was to disparage our culture, to turn people away from the subject material as irrelevant!

The Solution is get rid of the Institutes of Social Research across America's university system and get rid of Marxists!

But you can't because the Marxists have taught you Free Speech. So the crap will continue--the death of the West is sealed!

"They are the culmination of western civilization, a civilization that has forgotten nearly everything about itself,"
To some extent I disagree with this David, not strongly, but I see it from a different angle. From where I'm looking we seem to be the people of a civilisation that has been taught by a small, but active and very noisy minority with a subversive political agenda to loathe and detest everything about itself.
Consequently, while a few of us determined non - conformists stand aside and look on with dismay, the majority are totally hooked on guilt and constantly beat themselves up for largely imaginary historical crimes allegedly committed by people with whom we have no ancestral connection.
Until education is depoliticised and pupils are taught to be proud of our achievements as well as being aware of the less glorious episodes in history, our civilisation is in danger of complete collapse.

E. D. Hirsch is Jewish.  Alan Bloom is Jewish.

The West is European. What do Semites have to do with the West?  They have destroyed the West!

The Great Book series includes Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto!

What does the Communist Manifesto have to do with European culture?  NOTHING!  It has destroyed the West. International Socialism is the culture of Gnosticism! European culture includes Hierarchy, Throne and Altar. Communism is about destroying it! WTF?

Jews have a great, great hatred of Hierarchy. Again, Idealism is foreign to Western Culture. The Greeks and the Romans were not Idealists. The kabbala and Jewish influence introduced Idealism; Idealism is nothing but Tikkun Olam, fixing the world!  THAT IS NOT WESTERN CULTURE.

Like I'm to take lessons from infidels?  Who the hell is spreading the Multiculti ideology?  Who gave it birth?  Who wants to rebuild the Tower of Babel?

The WASP of Britain, and its diaspora has married himself with the Jew. He will NEVER learn from his mistake because "he wants to be nice".

I attended a conference in Ann Arbor about Greece and the Natural Law. I mentioned Sparta as the home of Greek philosophy and the head of the Classical Department, a Jewish Lady, Lost her mind, yelled at me and later to come out, she was close on calling the cops on me!

The progressives don't want us to learn history, and certainly don't want us to learn civics.  Understanding our founding and why we are who we are goes completely against their strategy of altering our culture to make us accept their ideology.

RE: opher goodwin - I don't know whether to laugh out loud or shake my head in disbelief at your remark, 'religion should never be in schools. Education should not be used to brainwash kids.' The human world was built on religion, how can we not teach religion to our children?
The fundamental cause of objection to religion, disagreement with religion, and atheism is IGNORANCE. One need not be a believer to understand the historical significance of religion and thereby the necessity of teaching our children this aspect of humanity. One can discount ALL factual basis for religion and still come away comprehending why man has survived on faith and progressed on religious teaching and tradition.
To put religion in context we must first explore why humans gravitated towards religion. Religion did not emerge in a vacuum but as the consequence of man's need to understand and man's inability to explain. Religion serves the purpose of sustaining man while his intellect expands and his knowledge increases. Great works and humble routines are the products of faith that define humans and faith demands a god.
Now, as you consider this you might see a similarity to the maturity of the individual. We begin without knowledge, and propelled by instinct grow on the support of what we cannot comprehend. As we grow we accumulate understanding and improve our talents at turning knowledge to our advantage. Surpassing childhood as adolescents we begin to covet the liberty of adults and in our misguided belief of immortality we begin to test the edges of our limits. As adults, provided we survive adolescence we at once enjoy greater confidence in ourselves and suffer doubts about what we learned in childhood and what we were taught.
From this point on our perceptions come full circle to include the new and the old and we gain the wisdom to know what to keep and what to throw away. Listening to other voices to the exclusion of our own and surrendering to the complacency of being led is the only hurdle to our eventual discovery of peace of mind and balance. Throw out religion and you may succeed but you will have to come up on your own with something superior to what has served mankind since we first admitted to ourselves ... we don't know it all.

Piety is a Virtue!  It is indeed to be taught and inculcated. IN Western Culture, Religion is EMBEDDED in our curriculum. Church and State goes together. It was so in Sparta and Rome. In republica Rome, public officials conducted religious services! offering sacrifices and prayers at the various temples. The success of the Roman Army was due to Roman piety.

Piety is a devotion that should be practiced in the Schools and religion taught!

And  don't fool yourselves, in every Jewish school---THEIR RELIGION is taught in their schools!

"The progressives don't want us to learn history, and certainly don't want us to learn civics."

The proof for this may be derived from the juxtaposed query: What if the progressives reversed  their stand and taught 18th or 19th century government, religion and ethics to all. We would probably be back to essentials in learning and the application of those in our daily lives.

The reversal would cancel out the unending quest for oppressive taxes [original Tea Party],  top-down government, micromanagement, racial quotas, activist judges, importation of poverty to stuff ballot boxes and more.

As even a part of this theme, the notion of meritocracy would be prime in the selection of employees, government promotions and such.

The epic divide and conquer mantras of identity politics would be absent thusly providing no assistance to the emergence of malignant progressivism. Lies and corruption would not be permitted and capital punishment would keep the prison populations down.

The progressives attempt to change the system away from capitalism in a futile attempt at providing some form of phony equality in our society mediated and modulated by a mountain of laws.

For one who thinks and has some future or current assets or inheritances to offer to offspring or others, this is intolerable.

Thus, for those with cognitive skills beyond the level of frogs the progressives must be condemned.

Thanks for providing the youtube link.  i listened to about 5 seconds until i realized it was a Brit narrating what i'd already read.

But what WAS different was the clip at the beginning, where some screaming leftist kid was saying that "whites have no culture," which a) reveals his ignorance and b) reveals the degree to which he's been brainwashed by the ChiCom infiltrators or their proxies.

In my experience, whenever something sounds senseless, the ancient principle of "Quo bono?"(Who benefits) is a great question to ask, which is what led me to the ChiCom conclusion.  Based on what i've seen, they're attempting a "cultural revolution, American style" via the destruction of statues and the denigration of American history; it's an attempt to subvert and undermine from within, that's all.

It is doomed to failure; college kids who survive grow up and most eventually say to themselves, "Wait a minute; what i was taught in college is NOT TRUE!  i wonder what IS True?"  Then they re-evaluate, if they're honest with themselves.

It's like the old saw about "if you don't vote democrat when young, you have no heart; if you don't vote conservative after 40, you have no brain."

Great post, I unfortunately have a son who was indoctrinated in his school years in Colorado. He was a decent student. Overall, he has come out as a decent good man, but he believes all of the liberal lies. He thinks that capitalism is the root of all evil. He firmly believes that AGW/climate change is a fact. He thinks that Trump is the new Hitler, and that antifa has the right to act violently if they disagree with the words of another. Unfortunately, his mom was always a Democrat supporter, and we split up when the children were young. That plays a part in how he turned out. Sad to say that we haven't talked in some time now.

The general notion that the citizens of any polis should be 'educated' to vote in the interests of some controlling authority appears everywhere.  This is called civics, black studies, and other assorted labels. The salient question becomes: who should be the authority or giver of laws and such and what would the education  slate look like?

The idea that you can demand the votes you need is generally solved in two ways:

[1] put only one person on the ballot per office.

[2] force the vote by only granting votes to those loyal to some leader or ideology.

The USSR  tried both methods simultaneously in their 74 year history and the system crashed mainly because the polis was forced to participate in lies about prosperity and such. A currency crash also helped.

Athens descended into the dust of oblivion due to, mostly, demagoguery where personalities and lies and such were presented to the polis, which slanted their votes and forced choices not in the best interest of all.

If we look at the slate of 'democracies' since Athens we note that many so-called democracies have failed. There should be a message here and that is: if some group can influence the vote in a direction favorable to that group and ignoring what is best for the masses then democracy has failed in that sector.

These political systems, especially the EU, have abandoned the notion of representative democracies and leaned toward authoritarianism.

Thus, we face the onslaught of demagoguery daily by the media, the political candidates and more so that the outcome of any vote is apparently bought by bribes, special spending, various laws and more.

Clearly, democracy is not working well and we have to live with that for the meanwhile.
