Oh Shit!! Pete Shelley’s Dead!!

A few years ago I was living in a hiatus of great bands. The Magic Band, Love, the Fall and the Buzzcocks were all touring. Then it fell apart – Rockette Morton with heart surgery, Arthur Lee died, Mark E Smith died and now Pete Shelley!

What a great loss.. Pete was a master of lyrics and produced a string of high energy Punk classics. He brought a different craft to Punk.

Live they were a high energy act who always delivered and got the crowd rockin’.

Pete was also a really nice friendly guy. There was no front. On a few occasions I was sitting around in his dressing room after a gig chatting. He was always open and welcoming.

I’ll sure miss him! There’s not many left!

Goodbye Pete and thanks!

I last saw them about a year ago. They were just as good as ever!
What a loss!

Music and musicians all have a beginning...and, sadly, an end. Excrement occurs, opher.  Nice tribute to Shelly.

Hate to burst your bubble, but you'll soon be in Hades with him, Badlose.
Ryan Messano Added Dec 6, 2018 - 9:27pm
It's amazing to watch Michka, like a true pagan, worship degenerate idols of his, but viciously attack the righteous.  Nothing new, been going on for thousands of years.  Jeff doesn't know enough history to  know he is following a path and pattern that millions have been down before.  Same with Badlose and the 22 other liberals and RINO's on here.  If you aren't being criticized by them, you are doing something wrong.

There are many left, opher, but that means there will be many more days like this.  Chin up, man, and think of all the good!
opher goodwin Added Dec 7, 2018 - 4:55am
Thanks Jeff - yes - it seems I am of the age where the guys who have meant a lot to me are departing in droves. A sad but natural state of affairs.
opher goodwin Added Dec 7, 2018 - 4:57am
Jim - we get very partisan with our music don't we? And our writers. Most of my heroes are dead. They didn't used to be.
It is harder to identify with the younger musicians. Music reflects the experiences we have been through and brings back memories. Alas we get old.
But good old Pete was only sixty three.

This appears to have disappeared, Why does that happen? I've been down the list through hundreds of posts but it is nowhere to be found. How strange. Perhaps Autumn doesn't like the Buzzcocks?

Ill be in hades too, Rev. Well be in good company. Due to my very close personal connection with the dark lord I can assure you we wont be subjected to your presence. Youll be down below the shit shovelers, shoveling their shit

I had a chat with Pete a year ago and he signed a few of  my albums - a really friendly guy - very welcoming. Such a shame!

Stone - you should take note of Wendy - times have changed.

SEF,
I will ask that lovely LADY no such thing. She liked my Roberta Flack "The First Time" and has a smile that would light the darkness.
She gets an OK in my book and hope ya keep her smiling!

Stone - that live at CBGBs album is a great one Stone. Manster is one of the bands that didn't make it. I never really noticed them. Playing it again I wonder why.

That's the ONLY album I never found again on the net. When all my 400 albums burned in Mali I had to start from scratch to find them all again on mp3 in the net. Now I have all of them back - except this one. And since I can't buy anything online I couldn't get it downloaded - torrents don't have it. Life without a credit card is no easy sometimes, but I stubbornly refuse to get one LOL
Women are Inferior Added Dec 8, 2018 - 5:10am
Although I heard of them, I never really listened to them. I like The Jam, XTC, and Echo and the Bunnymen.
Stone-Eater Added Dec 8, 2018 - 5:14am
Yep. XTC. No plans for Nigel at the moment, though.

Yes, I remember someone saying "Duran Duran are the Beatles of the 80's!" The reply? "Bull-Fucking-Shit!!! XTC is the Beatles of the 80's!"

Stone, I think it was you that educated me on the durain, a stinky fruit that sums them up very well, lol.
Stone-Eater Added Dec 8, 2018 - 6:18am
Duran Duran are the Beatles of the 80's

Huh ???? Might as well say that Donald Trump is the sister of Mahatma Gandhi.
Stone-Eater Added Dec 8, 2018 - 6:21am
BTW: Know why I hate the 80's ? Because of these:

Duran Duran
Soft Cell
Culture Club (LOOOOL)
Depeche Mode
Boney M

...and thousands of others which only disappeared when (I'm always talking of Europe) Radiohead and Oasis and the like appeared on scene.
opher goodwin Added Dec 8, 2018 - 6:49am
I've got a copy Stone. I might even have it digitally! I'll have a check.
opher goodwin Added Dec 8, 2018 - 6:50am
Michael - if you like the Jam and XTC I reckon you'd really like the Buzzcocks. They were great live.
opher goodwin Added Dec 8, 2018 - 6:51am
Stone - getting yourself into a bit of an ecstatic jam there!

Why should I NOT like some of A-ha ? I have a knack for good melodies since I I grew up with the Beatles ! That doesn't mean pop is my favorite style of music ;-)

So Messianic is taking swipes at me.  And Hades is fine with me, Lyin Ryan.  It will be amusing when Satan mounts you like Vinny and screws you until you bleed.  That will be fun watching for an eternity.  What will be more fun is watching you beg him for more sex.
