The rich has been sucking the working class dry

What people clearly don't understand is the level of income inequality. The rich has been sucking the working class dry by squeezing every once of productivity for the cheapest wage possible. Wal-mart is a good example, largest employer in the USA. They hand out state benefit forms to subsidize being able to live off their starvation hourly wage.

Education is very expensive, so these low wage workers are trapped. This is exactly where the rich want the majority of us to be in, so they can exploit the population for cheap labor. When you squeeze the labor force like this, they will revolt. The rich made the wrong calculation, and now they are going to pay for it by paying a much higher tax rate, which will pay for health care, green new deal, education so that the working class can recover from the beating they received.

"...they will revolt", so do you mean approach of socialist revolution in US? It reminds some scenes from Mad Max movie. As revolution means chaos and war of political groups, factions and gangs for some years, the first thing which working class will have to do is to go to war, like it was in Russia in 1918-1922.

Inequality is natural, we shouldn't make it worse with bad policies, the working class seeks to please employers, while the rich are concerned about maintaining their wealth.

CF - exactly right. The whole system is skewed.
As the wealth has increased the poor have been exploited. Working conditions in the States are so much worse than in Europe.
Time to unionise and fight for fairness

Under capitalism, any low paid worker can educate himself, get some experience and skills, open his own business and become rich and very rich man. Under socialism, the low paid worker is enslaved for term of life and cannot open his own business as having private business is a criminal offense for which a "criminal" is imprisoned. So both capitalism and socialism exploit working class but capitalist society gives workers a way to independence and enrichment. For some reasons those who oppose capitalism do not mention this possibility for which so many people emigrated form USSR to USA in 1980-s and earlier. By the way, one of the Google founders Brin is from a Soviet family which emigrated in US it seems in 1979. For this reason there is a joke that Google is a Soviet company but in the Soviet Union for opening his business Brin would go to jail.

Web - that is simply not true. Some lucky ones can become rich - most fail miserably.
Under socialism we have responsible capitalism and full democracy. There is just as much opportunity but more social justice.
The USSR is not socialism. It is a one-party tyranny masquerading as communism. Socialism is like Denmark or Britain in the 1950s.

Great, Opher, I really wish you to get socialism you want, probably of Scandinavian type, but is it possible to do in societies which gave life to highly developed capitalism, like UK and USA, and have always been the citadels of capitalist world? It sounds the same paradox like sunbathing in the Northern Pole. Surely now you`ve got some chances to build true socialism as YouTube is really full of videos on how poverty is growing right in UK and US. Hard to believe it watching from the former Soviet Socialist Republic, from where US and UK seemed to be the countries of huge money and luxury living (banks, stock exchanges, boutiques, aristocratic salons, English clubs, golf courses, casinos). Your ruling classes made some mistakes in distribution of wealth so in their place, I would lower prices and taxes in order to stop the growing discontent, which is clearly visible among impoverished people in both countries.

Ah, but rightists want the wealthy coddled and kept safe from having to pay their own way.  Get those "uneducated and basically stupid" lower income working class people to pay for everything:  They buy into stuff from stupid political stunts like federal troops on the border, to paying for the lack of migrant labor ruling class assholes want so badly.  "What a deal, they're (migrants) cheap and given their status, easy to manipulate.  The Uber wealthy only want to hoard their wealth, complain about how they pay for everything (they don't) and say, if taxes go up, there's less money in the rich guy's pocket.  The abject horror of the wealthy having to part with a little "water of their lives," you  The new rich guy game is "He who dies with the most money wins..."  Wins what?
Webmaster Added Feb 12, 2019 - 1:54pm
They can die with no money at all as money is the easiest thing to be confiscated. For example there was already an Occupy Wall Street movement and now here at WB I saw in an artcile the idea of banks` nationalization. So surely compromise and consent are needed in state`s structure. For example, in UK there is a strong Labour opposition which has large force in Parliament and argues with ruling party really hard.

This is the history of mankind.  The elite take over and make life miserable for the masses.  The masses ultimately move towards revolt and some good ole head chopping commences.  Having FB and Alexa won't change the practice of mankind.  Next time the masses might not chop their heads off.  The masses might just hack their banks accounts instead of hacking off their heads.

Ah, you mean like fraudster and King, Orangy, opher?  Orangy has made his own brand of defrauding silly people that want to become rich, but unlike Orange Turd (a friend of Moogy the Turd?), don't have a father handing them millions to make them wealthy, and actually expect a guy that bankrupted casinos (the House), will "share" his secret on how to defraud others into wealth, hence Trump University et al.  "Defraud a greedy working class guy, a dozen each day, until you pass away." I figure Moggy is a Trump U "Grad." Long on noise, short on information.  And why is Moggy fooled as noted in his boldface above?  Because he wants to be fooled by a fool.  Like most Trumpys.

Opher and AOC speak of democratic socialism but not authoritarian one. So it will be possible to build in US only if international status quo stays the same. Probably it will, but very soon old and new global and regional hegemons will emerge and start imposing their orders. In such a situation tylical capitalist hegemon will start cold war and arms race with them and quickly grow to the empire. His enemy in response can build severe dictatorship, start talking of global socialist revolution and create a presence in the other hemisphere closer to the borders of a hostile empire. But I have no idea what a democratic-socialist-former-capitalist-still global hegemon will do in response to hostile international development. Do democratic socialists really believe that US can change in such a peaceful imaginary way when it will be pushed right in the opposite direction to imperialism and dictatorship of multinationals?

Nothing will happen because people believe they will just be nuked. For the first time in a century the military industrial media complex told us the truth when they told us about nuclear bombs. Everyone believes in them.

Nobody is going to "nuke" crowds of working class Americans, PlumbDoug.  Working class Americans aren't concerned about that. They are more concern being in a state of revolt will get them fired from their jobs.  Hey, how are thy going to "nuke" 'em You've talking about how nukes DON'T exist on another thread, too, so "do better."  Maybe they'll be nuked by the same film crew that faked the moon landings, eh?

Without the rich, there would be no jobs to complain about.  Is it so bad that they expect a return on investment?  For every dollar we take from them, it is one less dollar they have for investment.  For every regulation or benefit that raises the cost of employment, there is more automation to eliminate workers.  Excessive government is the enemy.
It was frustrating after the 2007-2008 economic collapse.  It was an employer market.  The tables have turned today.  If the economy continues to improve, I suspect we will hear fewer complaints.  Wake up!  Like it or not, believe it or not, give credit or not, things have improved under the current administration.  Imagine what would happen if two-thirds of the government wasn't working against it.  The New Green Deal can only make it worse.  Careful what you wish for.

Mogg -  having lived in both the UK and US I can certainly say which I prefer. The UK is miles ahead. My daughter is a chemical engineer. She worked in the US on UK terms. She was paid better, had longer holidays, better sickness benefits and a year's maternity leave. Her American colleagues were extremely jealous.
But then you Americans don't like unions. You like giving more to the wealthy.

I have to laugh.  As Bill Gates stated the other day, the income tax is just a rounding error for the uber-wealthy.  It might make you feel good, but it will have little impact.  The real wealth is in their assets.  No doubt that just like under Stalin, as you are out raiding the assets of the rich, there will be another party raiding your assets.

Opher, I follow Brexit events quite carefully and I can make a conclusion that the road which UK is going right now is the straight road to socialism. Labour opposition is getting stronger day by day, it tells about the problems which are close to wider mass of population and Tory look completely lost on the threshold of big economic changes.

Leroy, For every dollar we take from the rich it will be one less dollar they have to purchase stock buybacks and further inflate the asset bubble. They stopped investing in growing the mainstreet economy 10 years ago when they were rewarded with the great financial do over and trillions of dollars to play with. The job market has just stabilized. It has not improved. A sub 4% unemployment rate along with wages rising are just more manufactured rhetoric and nonsense to match the current narrative .65 million people are now working the gig economy because decent paying jobs with benefits have become far and few between.Unemployment has become so low because business now operates with skeleton crews and don't have many workers left they can lay off.

Democrats sold out the working native born poor by opening the flood gates, then privilidging the legal and illegal immigrants over the native poor. They intentionally kept wages for the poorest among us low for their benefit, while calling people who opposed competition for low skill jobs and welfare bigots.
It WAS in their best interest for working class Americans to vote for Trump over the DNC.
